Anybody headed to/went to Deal's Gap/The Dragon?
If so, I am very jealous! My plan is to get there next year in the summer.
A friend was recently there and saw several Ninjettes. He even spoke to one rider who said his Ninjette was nimbler than his gixxer on the mountain.

I wasn't aware it was reopened; if it is, I may head out there this weekend...

A buddy of mine was there a couple of weeks ago and said he never made it over 55mph due to heavy... like Harley heavy police presence.
Not saying anything, just putting it out there from what I heard. |

There are so many great roads in that area that you will have a great time riding even if the "Dragon's Tail" isn't completely open.

The Dragon is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. seven days a week until the rockslide on US129 is cleaned up.
Not sure what it look's like right now - I haven't been through there since I took the stang through it last year and got a ticket. If you come, watch for the five-o. There usually out in full force this time of year. I've heard that there is more open on the NC side then there is on my side (TN). |

I know this thread is a little old but I thought I'd give an update.
Tail of the Dragon US129 IS NOW, at this very moment, OPEN TO THRU TRAFFIC ONCE AGAIN. And to top it off, the temp's look good for this weekend with highs in the mid 80's. The high temps might be gone, but there are still some HOT accommodation deals in the area - check the link below for info on where to stay. Got this from the Dragon's site. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ It tells all about the Dragon as well as updates for it and accommodations in the area, also tells of some other great roads like Moonshiner 28, I don't live to far from it so I get to go every now and then.

We went 2 weeks ago and had a blast. And yes, the road is open, however, that means there's more through traffic...and lots of Harleys. yay. lol!
