Keychains/lanyards/accessories for my key?

Where can i grab some of these things? I know not to have anything metal cuz it scratches up the steering area pretty bad if i do. But what else can i get and where can i get them at? Websites are much appreciated! And possibly local stores if you live in the OC area

I bought the motorcycle bottle opener at Fred Meyers and it hasn't scratched up the paint or anything. I just make sure it doesn't hit the tank. The "Moto GP" one my dad made for me as a gift for my new bike when I first bought it. The HD Jesus one I got at a local Christian shop.

I hope this helps at least a little bit. I believe someone made a similar thread a while ago.

Just look for the "rubber keychains" if that's what they call em? The ones I own have what looks and feels like felt fabric lining on the backs, soft rubber front.

Local - Cyclegear, Moto Dealer, D-Store OC etc.
Web - Dunno, anywhere? Depends with what you like on your keys.

I like to use an ordinary split ring attached to one of those plastic/rubbery bracelets they sell to support charities (like the Livestrong bracelets).

It's soft, brightly colored so you won't forget it, you can put it around your wrist when you don't have a handy pocket, and it makes it easy to park my keys in my helmet… I run the velcro wrist strap of my glove through the bracelet and stick the gloves with keys attached inside my helmet.

I also have a pair of house keys. I have a piece of clear plastic tubing that I stick the business end into. So the whole thing is non-scratch.

That is a good idea. I'm gearing up for a week long trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains later this month. Having extra cordage handy is never a bad thing

@mohamoda has a cool keychain. I can't find any of the pictures he posted of it. Maybe he can chime in with a photo.

Here's my keychain (note, photo is inside joke):

I like the standard dealership and parts place keychains. The really bright fluorescent colored ones are the best for me. It's easy to see and remember to remove the key. They don't scratch anything up or make noise. Here's a picture of my current keychain. It's pretty bright. I'd love a neon yellow one that was the same type.

i have a small plastic dinosaur that i got at a toyshop and drilled a hole through. Poor guy lost 1/2 of his tail and one arm, but he's pretty sweet, wont scratch the bike, and his head is easy to stick in my mouth when my hands are full holding gear.

...and i totally set myself there, so go ahead, diry-minded folk, let 'em rip.

I just use the key by itself. No keychain for me. My buddy always told me that keychains scratch up the triple tree. Guess a soft one wouldn't...

Couldn't tell you how many times I've misplaced my key haha

Here you go, there's a couple of different ones. It's a bit expensive for a keychain but they're pretty durable and good quality

Inspired by this thread I made myself a paracord lanyard (braid just like the bracelets).

http://www.instructables.com/id/Para...elease-buckle/

Split rings on both ends. Bike key on one end and Mobil Speedpass/office/house key on the other.

It drapes over the front of the triple of my GSXR, between the clutch cable and the left switch wires. That keeps the lower keys not only off the top of the triple, but also away from the fork leg so they'll never scratch anything. Note that my ignition switch is over on the left, not in the middle like on the Ninjette.

I did make extra-sure that there's no possibility of interference with the controls.

I picked up my paracord at Scheels, but I saw yesterday at Home Depot they're selling a box full of. "Paracord Accessories" (bracelets and key rings). I like making my own because I can make it the length/width I want to.

Here's the videos I used to learn how to tie various things: www.youtube.com/user/tyingitalltogether

I have my key attached to one of those barrel links so I can detach it alone fairly easily. When not in the bike I have it on my normal keychain.

I never like the idea of anything flopping about in my controls

They sell them! You can find them on Amazon or Ebay (or actual Lego store if you have one around)... They have all kinds!
