Bike bogs down at 9K

I have been a firm proponent of using Seafoam in my gas tank. Recently (like, day before yesterday) I noticed the engine bogging down whenever I climb past 9K RPM, and it doesn't matter which gear I am in. Prior to that I've had very few issues with the carbs running lean. My best guess is probably clogged mains.

I welcome alternate viewpoints though.

Just to clarify further, it is more of the engine cutting out like you feel from a limiter then slowly slowing down.

check your air filter. it's probably got a squirrel caught in it.

Have you put anything under the rear seat that may have slide down into the snorkel or airbox? I've heard of a case where a rider (whose bike would not go past 8k all of a sudden), spent endless hours cleaning and adjusting carbs and changing plugs etc.., only to realize he had something as simple as some loose Gummy Bears stuck in the snorkel. His bike had a high rpm issue as well.

Just saying.....

As Blue noted - check the intake snorkel for obstructions.

I've also experience instances where old or bad gas will give you high RPM running issues like you mentioned.

Thanks for all of your replies.

I live in an apartment and leave my bike outside under a cover(duh). Apparently a big a$$ cockroach found its way to the snorkel and died there.

Did I mention that there are a couple of fast food places near where I park.

Obviously, I don't eat there...
