wheel for a ninja300 swing arm, in a pregen frame, with a crf450r motor?
Hello!
Long story short. I'm SLOWLY sticking a 2003 crf450r motor in a pregen frame (it ate a crank long ago). and Im looking to finish up. I picked up a complete ninja300 swingarm/wheel/brakes etc... for a good price. While it can run a 150/60r17.... I'd REALLY like to be able to run 160/60r17 or 165/55r17 for track days as this is the size most used by motards and 250gp bikes. So is there a 5" or 5.5" wheel that i can fit into a ninja300 swinger? Don't have the budget for BST wheels with custom mounts... But custom spacers etc.. for an oem rim would be great it seems like the tires will clear the swingarm if its run further back in the chain adjusters? Thanks for the input! -Levi P.s. I know this is silly/pointless/waste of money with the ninja 400 being out, but this project was started 10years ago... |

Still in pieces!
Got a gsxr front end installed. Got the 300 rear end and went with a pretty standard sized set of dunlops... i've forgotten size and model! Its been to long lol. Even though i git a welder setup... Work got very busy, weather got cooler, and i still have decision paralysis on how to do front motor mounting... hopefully will sort it all out this spring Last futzed with by saber63; January 27th, 2019 at 07:34 PM. Easiest would be 4.5" ER6N (Ninja 650) rear wheel. Has benefit of looking exactly like 300 wheel. Don't know about sprocket offset, but on 250, a 160 tyre would just barely rub on straight chain with aligned sprockets. Will probably need to make custom spacers and centre wheel in swingarm.
I recall reading somewhere about CR250 swap, they had to mount engine slightly left of centre to line up sprocket. |

Double checked the email
120/70r17 on the stock GSXR front wheel 150/60r17 on the stock ninja 300 rear wheel Dunlop Q3 plus was the tire of choice. Need to get the swing arm installed so I can check chain center line. Based on how CRF450R super motos handle tires... the chain line should be pretty close. clearance for the kick starter, front motor mounts/frame bracing, intake/exhaust/coolant routing are more of my concern.... -Levi |
