RIP Top Gear

It looks like Clarkson will be canned by state run broadcasting. He was getting old and starting to become sarcastic anyway.

Good riddance. The guy beat someone because his food was cold. What a ****ing weasel. Top Gear is/was the pinnacle of automotive journalism, but this prick deserves no sympathy. I hope the producer he beat presses charges and takes all he can.

Didn't hear of any event w/ Clarkson before this..and really don't give a **** to look it up (it has no bearing to me).

Clarkson was one of the reasons I loved that show and I simply won't watch it anymore.

He had years of good service and I love how 1 event happens and people jump all over a band wagon and high horse...

I just hope those type ppl have an event happen to them and they themselves get labeled and derogatory remarks made of them and know how it feels.

A grown man had a temper tantrum and beat someone over something that wasn't their fault, for no good reason in the first place. Doesn't matter who he was. Don't defend him.

to be fair, he had a contract agreement that he recently negotiated specifically about food. because it has been such a tremendous ****up in the past and all 3 of them have been almost killed countless times because of their producers ****ing up and not giving a ****. so he got in an argument with a producer. the producer was wrong but instead of trying to say okay you're right let me try to fix it, the producer fought back. so they argued for 30 minutes. then it escalated and they started pushing each other for literally less than 30 seconds. which equates to clarkson trying to push the producer out of his hotel room to go get him some real food and not some ****** chicken in a can.

I don't know why my posts start out sweet and innocent and before long turn into roadrage on the forum. I going to have to start posting in the classified (or top secret) section!

I read that he gave the producer a fat lip. If they only pushed each other, yeah its bullshit that this is what ends top gear (for now).

I keep telling my wife and family, the level of acceptance of less than perfection just keeps getting lower and lower.

I never did watch the show much anyway.

I love Clarkson! He's always been honest about things. He's led the charge against the bureaucratic Producers going on more than a decade now. If I was making somebody a ton of money by going through some serious mental and physical anguish at times I would think having expectations of some easy to maintain common decency would be reasonable.

I certainly hope that those that have an opinion on this have seen Top Gear grow and develop over the past 22 seasons (that's 22 years) not to mention all the other information out there. All I'm saying is don't judge the situation without context...

Clarkson hasn't become this successful by being a whiny, tantrum throwing rock star... That doesn't work in Journalism...

According to the BBC, “Top Gear” at present airs in 215 territories worldwide and boasts an audience of 350 million. The show brought in more than $225 million in revenue last year for the BBC’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide.

How much money do you need to make for your company so it is OK to put people in the hospital? How much for sending them to the morgue?

I won't watch it without Clarkson. I'm not defending him, I'm not defending the BBC. The simple fact is that he IS Top Gear. The chemistry between all three of them MAKE the show. Screw up that chemistry, and the show turns horrible.

The US version is a good example. Tanner is the only real talent on the show as a driver. Rutledge is too much like James May, and Adam, well, I wonder how in the world he ever got on the show in the first place.

Sad day. I'll miss watching Top Gear. It's always entertaining.

Maybe Clarkson will head over to the Youtubes to make a channel there. Could be entertaining, but still not the same. Or all three go on to Netflix!

On the other hand, what if they replaced him with someone both funny and interesting?

Like, oh, Guy Martin?

THIS would definitely pull me to Top Gear more... Although Hamond would be pissed, as he would no longer be the crazy, cooky speed freak as Guy would be 10x that... Would be an interesting dynamic, not to mention many people wouldn't be able to understand him.

woaw there killer... Not sure how a fat lip translates into hospitalization and death.

My point was that this thing has been a long time coming, brewing for over 10 years - I think season 9 was the previous run in with the producers although my memory isn't that good.

I don't mean to start a fight, I meant to communicate that opinion's should be tempered as it's easy to jump on the band wagon and become part of the polarization problem. It's pretty easy to see how both sides have been at fault building this issue into it's culminating events if you've been around for all the available information.

Also, if Guy Martin gets Jeremy's spot, Jeremy would flip since he hates motorcycles, and that would be funny!

My point is... if I gave a co-worker a bloody lip I would be talking to a judge, fines, mandatory anger management, likely community service. How long it was brewing is not relevant.

I doubt guy will take that position if offered, he's a non-committal person who doesn't like long term contracts like that. Notice all of his shows are short and his racing is a couple times a year rather than "professional racing" (He has been offered, and turned down, spots on teams in BSB before)

It would be interesting to have him run the show though

He was on his last strings with the BBC due to the mishap with the rhymes. There are a lot of ways this could have been handled better. A lot suggested he have a chaperone on set, watch his arse so they could finish the filming of the studio sessions for this current series, but it is what it is. Seems the other two will not continue with the show since Clarkson is now out. I love Top Gear for the chemistry those three had. How many times Clarkson and Hammond ****ed with May's car and their laughter. Was fun.

I loved when they hypnotized Hammond and made him think the toy pedal car was his 911.

Guy Martin would be a hoot.

of course we would need subtitles to catch most of what Guy says... but still, just run the vid of him throwing a leg over his Gixxer mountain climber and givin' er a bit of a go,ya'know up Pikes peak... and everyone's jaw would be on the ground anyway.

Hell, he'd strap himself into a McLaren and most likely beat "The Stig's" time

Given how much they ripped into the Stig, should be interesting to see what Clarkson has to say about the BBC.

Think I'll be signing up for Prime.
