Welcome Dylan!
Lots of support & information from good people here on Ninjette!

On that note: you mention you want to upgrade & sell to move up to bigger bikes. I assume you mean you are thinking of buying a bike, fixing it up with farkles then hoping to sell it for more than you spent so you can buy another bike and repeat.
It has been my experience you are not likely to get back as much as you spend on "improvements" when you sell.
Other than keeping up with good maintenance while you own and ride; you may be better to just save your money until you have enough to buy what you want when you sell your current ride.
Your experience may vary but that seems to be the experience of most sellers and those that do make upgrades find they get more money at the end of the day (but not as much as they spent) if they strip off the upgrades, return the bike to stock and sell the upgrades separately.
Everything you need to know is here to do all your own wrenching on your bike and that alone will save you a ton of money as well as its fun to do too!

I'm from just a bit south of you. I actually just got home from a ride around gold ring, maybe we could ride together sometime?

Welcome.

You must have an awfully wet basement if you live under Lake Michigan.
