Modding my 250
Website after website I have read. I'm ready to make changes. Just concerned that I'll totally mess something up. I gotta change my exhaust.(Went to Bike Night at Quaker Steak and as I slowly rolled pass an elderly gentlemen he said, "Is that thing even on") The fender definitely has to go. What to do first? How can I make this "My Ninja" in a cost effective way? This is my venting for the morning. I'm at work bored.

Start by finding a local shop that will help you out for stuff you can't do yourself.
How much depends on you . Do you have tools and a place to work? You will need basic hand tools to pull the body and replace the exhaust. And the tuning is a whole nother story. A slip on will give you some noise look good and not require much else.

The horror of a quiet bike. You're not a real motorcyclist unless your bike is loud and obnoxious

Most of my mods have been cosmetic with a few functional changes as well.
How to do it cost effectively? I just keep a list of all the stuff I want to do with links to the sites with the part or instruction. Knocked off the cheap stuff (<$20) first, then decided rather arbitrarily to just work my way from the nose back. Trying for one mod/month, keeping a bit of a savings going for the higher priced items or emergency repairs (new chain, new tires).

I think the Yoshimura fender eliminators are the best ones out there. Very high quality, but a little pricey. The other brand of fender eliminators I like are Evotech, you can find them on ebay as they are from the UK I believe. Also very high quality. The cheap ones have bad license plate lights - while these are better steel and the lights are bright and high quality.
As for the exhaust - I like Arkapovic the best. |

Looking good!
I haven't done anything to my 300 yet. I have the Yoshi fender eliminator, but I just keep going for rides in my spare time. Whenever I want to work on the bike it's either too nice not to go for a ride or I'm super tired. One of these days I'll get to it. Black bikes always look super nice to me. |
