Versys 300 suspension on pre-gen 250r

I've been working on my 88 250r for about a year or so now. I've finished everything but the suspension and I was just wondering if anyone knew or had tried putting Versys 300 forks and swingarm on their pre-gen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this what you want to put on your bike?? I'm rebuilding a 99 Kawasaki Ninja 250 but I found a rear mono shock that's basically new and it made a huge difference. Now I'm going to get Sonic Springs tailored to my weight and riding style. This will make the bikes suspension just a little stiffer than factory. Maybe you could check that out as an option?

I think what I want the most for suspension front/rear is something similar to a dirt bike. From what I've been researching lately, I think I can use KLR250 forks and swingarm and get the suspension travel I'm searching for. I just can't find anyone who has done it yet. I have my 250 set up similar to a dirt bike/ sumo look now, the stock forks are way to spongy though.

Small update; I've been doing a lot of research, trying to find front and rear suspension that should in theory "just bolt on". From my research thus far I have come to the conclusion that the Kawasaki versys x300 forks and swingarm should bolt directly on with almost no mods. Trying to find cheap parts to try my theory, but its been pretty unsuccessful so far. But from what I've learned going through parts diagrams and part numbers, the front end is a direct swap. The rear should also be a direct swap also.

Thumbs up

AFAIK, Ninja 250R/300/X-300 all share the same shock dimensions. I have a pregen ZZR250 with newgen 250R Ohlins & have measured it against my X-300, they are the same length, but have different springs/damping the X-300 rear is quite stiff & I'm 100Kg.

For the front end compare the head bearing sizes, then you will know. I replaced my X-300 stanchions with KLE500 ones, same diameter, but thicker wall & longer length.

Have fun.

Thank you for the advice. I put in a ninja 300 rear shock and it actually lifted the rear end a little bit (the rear tire touches when it's on the center stand. I've been cross referencing the head tube bearings and from what I can tell, if you can just swap 08-12 forks onto a pregen then the versys x300 forks should be a direct swap also. Trying to find a x300 front end for less than $500 has been the challenging part. Have you ever tried to put your ninja wheels on your versys?

I've not tried ninja whelks, but I did measure them up & they should just drop in.
