Found in my back yard

I have a fairly large and wooded back yard, almost an acre, and I walk it before mowing to make sure I don't kill something I don't want to. Today I found this fellow out in the clover. It was fairly easy to catch him, and it only took a couple of seconds in my warm hands before he decided that he liked that warmth:

After carrying him into the house, getting the camera, and going out to the woodpile to take pictures, I set him on a larger branch on the sunward side of the pile. There's lots of insect life in that pile so he'll be in good shape for a while to come.

Oh, the species is Texas spiny lizard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_spiny_lizard

Cool! I'm a frog guy myself... I have 11 dart frogs of different species, but I do like lizards!

Caught a Green Anole the other day. When I set it free someplace else, my dog noticed it and went nuts. I think it got away unscathed in a patch of dense clover, but I can't be sure.

Oh, you've had it now. You're doomed.

Don't you realize what that will become by the end of the summer?
