do you ride with no mirrors?
Since my accident, I havent had any mirrors since they both broke off lol.
But im curious who else rides with no mirrors, and does it bother you? I find that I dont care because I turn my head regardless, but it does suck because a lot of people tail gate down here in floridax and I have to look back constantly to make sure im not gonna die from behind. So who rides without mirrors? Or whats your opinion on riding without them, im curious to see what people think, no judging. |

1st, I am not 100% sure of FL law, but I believe you are required to have at least 1 if your bike was manufactured with one.
2nd, I have logged many street miles without mirrors, personally don't mind either way but I would prefer to have at least one or both of them on the streets. Full Disclosure: KY requires at least 1 mirror if the bike was manufactured with one. So don't follow my lead here.

I'm too paranoid to not have some means of seeing behind me. Ended up getting longer mirrors because the stocks just showed my elbows.
I like the mod of adding in a backup camera and mounting the monitor up front.

I've never ridden a bike w/o mirrors but with how often I'm checking my mirrors I doubt I would be comfortable w/o them.

I hate not having mirrors, but because of not having money right now, ive learned to deal with it, its not so bad, but I want them back :'( its just good for checking on the person directly behind youx also when I rode to work today, this biker came really close to me, he sorta came out of no where and wanted to ride staggered, which I dont like doing, but had I not looked back randomly, I would have probably hit himx because I like moving around in my lane, its my lane, I dont share it with bikers unless were at a light, other wise I like my space

I hate riding without at least one mirror. The last time I did I got pulled over, not for no mirrors though, and I didn't even know the cop was behind me flashing his lights and sirens for like a mile. Luckily he was understanding lol.

I'll be the first to say the stock mirrors have a very limited view, but even mediocre mirrors are better than none. I'd recommend that you always have them on a street bike, but don't count exclusively on mirrors: regular shoulder checks are vital.

My mirrors index in and out without losing position so I fold them in fairly often to lane split. For me riding without mirrors(or folded in) is like riding without a helmet, something just feels really wrong and I don't like it. Plus without mirror how am I supposed to spot cops getting onto the hwy behind me.

I'm constantly checking my mirrors, there's no way I would ever ride without them. I've even added the SW-Motech mirror wideners and corner spots to make the stock mirrors on the 300 actually usable.

What's the point in having mirrors when that thing clearly comes with a forcefield and a missile defense system?

how do you ride with all that stuff on the bike, all I see are buttons and touch screens
I'm a simple person when it comes to riding, don't even need a tach or a speedo anymore. The simpler the better, which leads me to respect your ability to ride with all of those potential distractions all the more

Another vote for having both mirrors. My SV650 came with bar-end mirrors which I hated at first but now I love. They are much smaller but if I adjust them correctly actually show wider portion of the road behind/next to me. Plus I think they look way cooler than those antennae mirrors! Try a used pair on ebay, they should be cheap, and offer you a bit of a change without losing your field of view.

I use bar-end mirrors. They take getting used to, but I like them a lot. I can see a lot more. The only bad thing is they collapse at highway speeds. 75mph+

It's always been for me in every vehicle, not just bikes, that I do a mirror check, then a head check before switching lanes. You clear yourself that there's nothing close behind without having to lose sight of the front and then you can clear your blindspots before switching. Also, I keep a visual radar in my head. Even when I'm not thinking of switching lanes, I keep a lookout for vehicles and tag them mentally.

I used to think the mirrors made my sports bikes look ugly so I took them off. But after riding a couple of months without mirrors, I realized it's too dangerous and decided to put them back on. I never ride a bike without mirrors since then.
