65MPH Tops 2007 Ex250

Hi, I just purchased an 07 EX250 any for some odd reason Trying to redline as much as I can im unable to get the bike faster than 65MPH (Less than 70 Downhill) Im running full throttle the whole time revving as high as possible before shifting. (We've changed the spark plugs, checked air filter, gas filter..) I've divided a bottle of seafoam into my last two fillups using Premium gas. Mechanics said that we can try putting new jets on, but asking if anyone else has any ideas.. Until 4th Gear maybe third i can redline, after than it drops to 11k Limit Then shifting reaches 9-10k limit then 8k.

Check the throttle cable and throttle mechanism on the side of your carbs. Does your bike have any kind of mods? Mileage and how long has been since a valve adjustment?

Welcome, Tracy !!!

The brakes are dragging, your chain is bad or the torque that your engine develops is lower than normal.

Please, change you mechanic, don't change any jets and read this:

Are both pipes the same temp? What do the plugs look like?

Any chance there's something under the seat blocking the air to the snorkel?

Does it need choke to start?

Drain the floatbowls and look at the fuel that comes out. Is the tank rust-free?

Run Regular (87) gas without ethanol. Only use Premium if you can't get anything lower without ethanol.

Just an FYI, our bikes do better on the recommended octane. My likes 89 (recommended) more than 92 or 93.
I would also check the gearing. Some people play with sprocket sizes to fit their needs. It won't make a huge difference but it will make some. Start with the small stuff.
