Mid-Ohio v5 2016

I normally don't start this thread until Feb. but since this is the 5yr anniversary of doing this, I thought I would do it early and to give riders a chance to save some greenbacks.

First... Here is your chance to ride the track for $146 (full day) or twighlight for $112. Link

As always, let me know if you are attending and I will roll out the red carpet for ya, food, drink and you know there will be plenty of laughs and good times in the paddock as well as on track. And as ya'lls already know, ya might even get me as a coach and share a garage spot! Yes, like last year, I will be there for every track day.

Reference threads for some light reading;
v1
v2
v3
v4

Paging @Bigballsofpaint, @Sirref, @Ducati999

This looks like the ideal opportunity for our return-the-favor Mid-O road trip.

Awaiting schedule.

Reminder: It is our mission to be the WORST students Chris has ever had....

Sorry mang... there has been rumors in the past of relaxing that rule but nothing has come of it as of late. There seems to be some shake up on other rules at the end of last year. I am to attend a meeting after xmas to get an update.

We will see...

Just let me know and I am in if at all possible. I have family visiting from merry old England the last week of June thru July 5th. Other than that time I can and will attend---got to try out the new shock and increased power somewhere! I am already suffering from the lack of quality seat time and no end in sight. Who's idea was it to build civilization in a place where it is too cold to ride 5+ months a year? I must get back to my totally disassembled track bike and cry for a few months till I see green outside again

Oh man. Will be graduating in May, very likely moving out of NE Ohio area. No idea on my plans. Last summer was no bueno with co-op, this summer may not be any better.

But if we get a big crew out, I'll make it happen. Fart around in N for a good time and go cruisin'

My only plans in 2016 are getting married, so labor day weekend and the week following is out. Otherwise, count me in. I say early June, but that's just me, not too hot or cold.

Money is all set for this trip, so no worries there.

June 13/14 should work. Gets us back home Wednesday 6/15, right?

No conflict with the TTD schedule, which is good.
@Ducati999, does that look good on your end?

This is looking like a plan I will just have to confirm with the wife. Family arrives from the UK the next Monday( 21st) so I will have to work out the leave time. Once the wife and I get all the details hammered out I can say yes for sure. I am hoping Mike will be going also!

See that "S" word?!?!?!? You guys, remember... Mid-Ohio is a "school" first and a track day second. If you sign up for the novice group, you are required to take the classes.
This will be awesome for you wife Ant!

Even if you guys register for I group or even A, you might end up in an optional or required class that I am currently writing the material for. Not sure how it will be implemented though and will update when I know.

Common chemist! These trips are always cool and fun. If you know how to basically ride street and have confidence in the controls, we have a group for you.

I can't wait!

The intermediate level option titled, "Class With Chris" is pretty great also!

The Mid-O school is great. Never had a bad experience there.

Hmmm. Looks like a decent price and I haven't been to Mid-O in years. I'm waiting for the Moto Series schedule to come out before I decide if I'm doing trackdays or running a full season on the Ninjette. My most likely scenario at Mid-O is doing the Vintage days and racing my project bike in the SOS class.

I'd like to do some other tracks as well. The most likely other track would be Pittrace and it didn't happen this year because they wanted way too much money to rent the track. I talked to Todd K a few times about it this past season and apparently they thought that they could charge big bucks with the addition of the new South track. Todd told them they weren't being realistic with the pricing and it turned out he was right as some trackday orgs started backing out of dates because they couldn't get enough people to pay the higher costs.
So Todd decided to keep Moto Series at Nelson in order to focus on making much needed improvements to the track.
Hopefully Pittrace will be more realistic with their fees this year and we can go. Other than that, Putnam is the only other track that we've gone to in recent years and I probably wouldn't go even if we did get a weekend there simply because it's too far for me.

Yea, I did the trackday/Sunday races at Putnam with them. The turnout was lower due to distance, so you're not alone. I have learned to enjoy the aspect of traveling to different tracks, so I don't mind the distance part until it gets really, really far.

Update...

BIG changes are coming this year at mid-o, specifically in the area of more "focused" coaching. It's gunna be great! With the help of other experienced coaches, we are hopefully moving the direction of a top tier track school.

Stay tuned... more to come.

Also, if you are interested in attending Mid-O and wish to request me as a coach, feel free. However, I can't be in 2 places at once. If I am teaching the novice class, I can't be on track at that time, but I will make it a point to watch you and assist another coach in your personalized instruction.

Got riding goals? Come see me and Mid-Ohio, and we will address those goals, I will personally see to it.

FYI to all and sundry, Northeast contingent is planning on being there for June 13/14, loaded for bear and ready to make Chris want to tear his hair out.

Consider the coaching request submitted.

Update! I have submitted the new classroom and coaching materials to track management for the N group (I is up next). We will see where it lands as far as accepted/adopted or not.

Pat, still waiting on a age verification for you. Included in my submission of materials, was a reminder for the open question. If I don't get a response in a few days, I will call them directly.

I think I may be in, will know for sure closer to the dates but my budget looks solid right now

I need some Mid-O in my life (will also need to borrow a bluetooth setup so I can order some pizza down the straight)

Just joined here doing some research on 250 racing and saw this thread.

Hi Chris, how are your 24 cats?

Any noobs needing some help getting to and from the track for their first track day from NE Ohio I do a fair number of days and can usually move a few extra bikes. Fair warning; once you have a taste you may be hooked.

Hi niles!

I am down to 17 cats now that some have found homes. Thanks for the offer to haul some riders down. Gunna be a fun season!

And welcome! There is much 250 racing knowledge here.
