Bag for Carrying Long Gun

I am a competitive trap and skeet shooter, and I would love to ride my motorcycle to the range instead of having to drive my car.

What I want is a good backpack that can carry a semiauto Beretta shotgun with a 30" barrel. The barrel can be disassembled from the rest of the gun.

Sounds like you are looking for a padded rifle case with shoulder straps, aka "drag bag".

Here is a simple search from Cheaper than Dirt for bags.

Bass guitar gig bag with shoulder straps.

The issue you're going to run into is positioning your head. When you put the thing on your back it'll poke up and interfere with your helmet.

I actually used to play bass and was looking at this as the only option. The poking head thing won't be a problem as I will be disassembling my shotgun. The only problem I have is trying to figure out a way to make sure the components don't touch each other and how to put about 100 shotgun shells for the range for the day.

What kind of car do you drive?

What about a fly fishing rod holder? So are you going to carry the action seperrate from the barrel? Also for the shells a rear tail bag would work just fine.

Not familiar with that gun (or guns in general), but I have carried my Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve bow on my back on my bike before. I did have a hard time keeping the bow from slipping though. A shoulder to hip sideways arrangement worked best. Have you thought about getting some kind of soft sling-bag that is made for a recurve or longbow and slinging it shoulder to hip like a messenger bag? I carried my bow strung on my back, but I've seen bags that might do the trick.

I think you're looking at this the wrong way.

Fabricate a way to mount it to your fairing. Think of how effective it could be during rush hour.

Still can't figure out a single way to mount a gun holder to the bike. I don't think the ATV gun rack things work.

I think my best case scenario is to find a gun case with backpack straps that don't go under my lower back.

I think the toprack is what I've been looking for the whole time. How would the gunboot attach to the toprack?

Probably with a little jury rigging you can make this work. Maybe.

That may be cheaper than the rack and gun box solution that I provided. I dont know how much gear you bring with you, I tend to go heavy when I go to the range.

EDIT: Watch the video that goes past his butt, which means sitting on a bike with it will be hard :/ (reading for personal amusement now - I do like my other 5.11 tac gear seems well made)
I actually tried that bag as well as a 5.11 two-gun bag and the backpack straps are't positioned well for motorcycle riding.

I also contacted Eberlestock about a bag for riding but no one responded. Don't feel like dealing with them unless I can find a store that has them in inventory.

Do not carry the shells and gun in the same bag. This might cause you a very big problem.

I see what you did there my good sir

I'd just go with my 3 point sling and "ask" people to get out of the way
