Painted my bike!!

Hey all, I purchased a salvaged bike a year ago that had broken fairings. So I went ahead and patched/fused said fairings. Painted her up

I like space and UFO's and syfy isht! Hence the space theme.

I have more pics, but I'm doing this from my phone and can't tell how big the pics are. What do you think?

Thanks man, I turned out alright. I'm pleased, it literally had holes in the fairings.

Anyway if you want it done right get two stage. Spray gun with factory paint and clear. However I did not, I went with rattle cans from O'reilys/kragen auto parts. Sand able primer, sand able filler, white, black and others for my theme. I fused all cracks with soldering iron, then layed abs glue on underside followed by tape. I think I used 3m body filler? Don't Quote me. I'll have to dig thru the rubbage. If your fairings are clean then it's no problems. I personally used a 600 grit wet over the entire bike. Took all the way down to the first undercoat of green. Then started the process, good luck!

Ps. If you do have cracks, make sure to prep them correctly. To make your paint look right, use tach cloths and compressed air to keep them clean as you process them. Clean hands!

Cool space theme. Looks like it took a long time to do.

What kind of paint did you use - any clear coat over the top to protect it?
Are you going to extend it into the white or just doing the tail and cowl?

Edit: Looks like you answered a few of my questions above.

The black has clear, the white does not. The clear on the white would turn yellow. So I aced it.

Gotcha. I like the space idea.

Maybe some leds would make it even more space-like. Imagine the blues or deep purples on the ground and the rear hugger etc. Some people around here have done some great stuff with the led setups. And they are usually the leds that you can switch colors via remote.

Or they even do the breathing effect. Or slowly change colors. Very UFO-like.

Here's a cool video of the capabilities. At 40 sec in the color changing starts happening.

Link to original page on YouTube.
