Clutch Play
My clutch freeplay adjuster thing is all the way loose. So I have this ridiculous amount of movement at the end of my lever. I have to readjust it every single ride because it somehow works itself loose each time!
I just wondered if having so much freeplay affects anything negatively... Besides pissing me off because I go OCD that the lever won't go all the way back out |

How many miles are on the bike since the clutch cable has been replaced (if at all)? Are the adjusters staying in the same position as the cable stretches? Or are they threading back in as you ride causing the slack? Sounds like potentially a bad clutch cable to me, like you have several strands of the steel braid unraveling, gradually lengthening the cable as you use it.
As far as your second question is concerned, too much free play may not allow the clutch plates to separate completely so you could be putting excess wear on your clutch plates if they're in contact.

Additionally, it's really bad for the transmission to be shifting while the clutch is not fully disengaging. Get this issue solved before you do too much more riding.

Is there a counter-nut in your adjuster?
That is what holds the thing from loosing the setting.

No counter nut... May have broken off when it got dropped by the previous owner... Then clutch is fully disengaging though, it's not like it's slack in the catch point. It's just slack for a good ways after it catches.
