Crap! Already ordered a Hero2, that's still on backorder. Wonder if I can cancel the order and apply it to a Hero3.

I've had multiple name-brand fast-enough 32GB mSD cards for over a year now that I paid only $14 each for. At one time I would have scoffed at needing mSD in a device that could benefit from the increased capacities and lower price of full-size SD, but I don't think it's a problem now. Also, even HD video really doesn't require high speed unless you are playing it back randomly or editing it on the card.

That Black edition is freaking awesome, $400 is a little steep, but those specs make me drool. 1080p 60fps!!!

Are the specs on the Hero 1 the same as the Hero 2? What's the difference besides low-light stuff?

I kinda want good low-level because I have a tinted windscreen. This wasn't an issue with the Flip HD during a bright day, but I think that it's good to not have low level lighting issues.

Is there any software that comes with any of the GoPro's?

EDIT: @Jiggles, just PM me about this, we shouldn't bog up this thread with this. I still want to hear what @menikmati has to offer as well, so he should PM me as well about this

Anyone with a hero 2 is pretty much set. No reason to upgrade if you just bought one in my opinion. However, the 1080p is nice :O

I def want one. Was looking at the reg her, then followed the h2 when that came out and now the h3. It was hard justifying the price. It will probably be the last farkle. After a full system and other upgs. Are these things worth it? Especially hero3 and white vs silver vs black?

Between the 3, i think the black edition is the only one with specs i'd want. otherwise i'd rather buy the sony action cam which can also capture 720p at 120fps while still being cheaper than the silver edition.

Why do they insist on making the flat-face forward? Though the aerodynamic issue is minimized by the size, but it just seems stupid and awkward for motorsports.

i dont get the white and silver versions, seems like they just put the same specs as the hero and hero hd.

the only one that stands out is the black one.

because their target audience isn't just motorsports. surfers, snowboarders, wakeboarders, skydivers, ect. those groups have other types of mounts, one of which is a chest mount and a flat camera is easier and safer than a point-y camera like the contour

I was checking out this video yesterday. The biggest difference is the low light capture and audio. The higher fps would be a benefit if you do a lot of slo-mo in HD.

Link to original page on YouTube.

(I don't know why my embeded link isn't working so I added both).
I really like my Hero2. I think it would be worth it for $400 (if you don't already own a gopro). You get the wi-fi features that were a $100 add on with the hero2, with the other upgrades.

I know. It just seems like the vast majority of those applications would be just as well served by a helmet "bullet cam." It seems that, even in those applications, flat-mounts would be the odd-one-out.
