fork oil dump bolt
A little background: the oil in the forks is 15 W and I am putting in 10 W. The current oil is new and has not seen much road time.
I have always removed the forks in my past fork oil replacement jobs and dumped the oil out the top to make sure everything gets out. It's not that bad, but this time the oil is pretty new and I don't think I really need to worry about scavenging the crap out of the bottom of the forks. I have read about this little drain bolt at the bottom of the fork that might make the procedure more efficient. Any hints or tips to using this drain bolt and keeping the garage and front wheel as clean as possible would be appreciated. For example: the manual does not mention removing the front wheel. How do you pump the forks since the handlebars would be removed?

never mind I ended up pulling the forks again to avoid the potential mess and the brain damage from learning a new procedure.

Best to pull them anyway because that way you can make sure everything is clean and also inspect all the internal parts.
