Hopefully they remove/reduce the size of the rear fender. Maybe a couple more colour choices, white seems popular. And hopefully add another 100HP to it

Would it be right to say that if the 2010 model was to be released, a brand new 2009 model's price would fall?

The 2009 price will only fall if there is inventory available when the 2010 arrives. I haven't seen any 2009 on the showroom floor in over a month here in RI (USA).

But I guess better chance of that that seeing the 100hp increase!!

1. I would hope better stock tires(or at least tires that you can get aftermarket someplace other than the dealer)
2. A final and lasting fix for the CDI issue
3. Better quality control to solve the fuel gauge sender issue
4. A temp gauge with a useable scale
5. Dealer prep that actually included torque checking things like the front/rear axle bolts (always too tight) or things like the shift lever and shift arm (always too loose)
6. Mirror stems that are just 1 inch longer

I wouldn't bet the farm or retirement account on any of those happening.

What I would bet on, though, is their assinine pursuit of putting more and more stickers on the bikes in successive model years.

I hope they don't go the sticker route. I think Yamaha has cheapened the look of the yellow FZ6R with those star stickers and the white with its stickers. Even the R1 which is a no-nonsense bike has a few un-need graphics. Thankfully Honda dropped that tribal thing.

Give me a plain bodywork with nice solid paint and I will make it mine with decals if I choose.

While many are listing wishful changes, I dont think there will be any. Maybe new/different color options.

wider tires would kill what makes the 250 a solid bike.

i doubt there will be any changes at all. maybe another year of proven interest and i bet they bring over the fuel injection.

theres a CDI issue?

there will be color changes and that's it. if they can find a supplier for cheaper tires, you'll get that too.

other than that, don't expect sweeping changes unless there are government pressured standard deadlines that the present bike does not meet.

if they tighten the emission requirements, I can see that as a reason for them to develop the FI bike for the US market.

I thought I read that the US carb bikes with the catalytic converters and the clean air system make more power stock than the FI bikes?

and how long did the pre2008 ninja go unchanged? if you can sell all ya got why change (from the manufacturers point of view). i would only expect color changes and maybe as KKIM said cheaper tire suppliers. That probably goes out to bid each year.

Really, do tires get much cheaper than the IRCs? I mean, if my bike came with those cheap POS rubber doughnuts, I'd take them off and throw them through the front window of the dealership one bright, busy Saturday morning. I've ridden a 250 with them, and WOW, what craptastic pieces of $*!t.

Unfortunately, with the 09, they already started putting more stickers on the things....and it only gets worse. Hopefully, with color changes, they won't do each year like they did between 08 and 09, where the blue and red don't match, and the green is only 90% close.

i thought that crap tires on new bikes was just an accepted fact. i've never bought a new bike without the knowledge that the tires were worthless. maybe they're better on the supersports.

tires on the 08 carbed bikes were decent for street/canyon use. we're not talking track rubber.

manufactures put out contracts with certain specs on what needs to be met to be eligible. If the a tire manufacturer can build the tire for Kawasaki at the lowest price point in that contract cycle, they get the award and that's what you'll get on the bikes, no matter who the company.

The specs from the service manuals have the FI bikes making about 1/2 a hp more at the crank than the carb bikes, but without putting a bunch of examples on the same dyno and such a small rated difference, I'd imagine individual variability would be more than the specification. (i.e. some carb bikes make a smidgen more than FI bikes, some FI bikes make a smidgen more than carb bikes)

The nice thing about stickers is that a hair dryer removes them efficiently--so I don`t worry about them. My SE was plastered with the most tacky and poor taste decals imaginable. (check out the pictures under Monster Graphics) Will make you barf. I do not know what posessed Kawa to go with Chen Singh tyres. They are total garbage. A friend got an 09 with those skins and took them off after 200 miles. He got some Michelins and is happy. Some of the movers and shakers at Kawasaki should subscribe to Ninjette .org. It would be time well spent and they could build the penultimate 250 if they took some of the ideas expressed on this board seriously. After all, who is the ultimate judge of a product? Sure as hell it is not the PR boys back at the plant. They have a bike with enormous potential. It is already the fastest 250 on the planet. All they have to do is listen to the owners. This board is literally their R&D handed to them for free---and they are clueless---sad.

I didnt even know that Kawi used Cheng Shin. Kkim just asked whats worse than IRC and I said Cheng Shin. did he get the metzelers on line?

In this economy if you have a product that sells (and sells out) there is no need to spend much R&D dollars. They did a couple years back and now we have the 2008+ 250R. Only in racing where what wins on sunday sells on monday is where the R&D money flows from year to year.

I have it on good authority (confidentially of course), that there definitely WILL be turbos and sidecars on ALL 2010 250r's - I can't wait!

Kawasaki is asking for a bailout. If they get it they said they will do FI and boost the HP to 60. Ohins rear shock and upside down front adjustable forks. They did say they would keep the seat the same so people can still complain about something. To adjust the price to the upgrades they are only offering green.

In all seriousness...
I doubt there will be any changes except colour choice and perhaps the tires.

I can't understand why they decided to save a few bucks by going from the very decent Bridgestones to the apparently crappy IRC tires. Kawasaki should realize that when someone is paying 4000+ bucks for a motorcycle, he/she's not going to put off by another $25 for better tires.

Maybe they will have a BNG package (Bold, New, Graphics). On which I would pass. Plus if they made the bike much better at its current price point I would want to get rid of my bike and get it.

Don't think they will change anything. They raised the price $500 in 2009 without doing anything to better the bike and still sold them.

For 2010 they will simply buy up remaining stock from the dealers and put it on Craigslist for $500 over the original MSRP.

Could be a winning strategy. Hey, a lot of owners are doing that, so why not?

good point. do you have remaining stock where you are? in RI we are sold out. I heard the midwest had surplus for quite a while last season.

They already did that for 2009... and actually charged more, after jacking price $500.

Don't they already have the FI bikes in Japan/Europe? Why so difficult to bring them over here?

I came off a CBR125R with FI, and while I appreciate the extra power on the Ninja, the choke seems a bit of a step back.

In my college auto shop class the teacher keeps talking about how that carburated fuel systems are a thing of the past... obviously he's not aware of all the motorcycles out there in this country that still don't have fuel injection. I love that my Spyder is FI.

Are we not good enough to get the FI system in our bikes???
