I got excited when I saw this post. I thought maybe EFI had been added. Instead, IMO, Kawasaki gives the ugliest color offerings yet and charges more for the bike. Used '08s and '09s never looked better to prospective buyers.

EDIT: Added pic :P
So they made a solid pearl white available without the vinyls, but it still has the black tail....

I can see why your are saying that. I adore older bikes that had stylish "banana" seats. The boxy seats today look very old. I thought new stuff meant curves? Look at the mustang. It went from, straight, and un-curved. To curved. Why are motorcycles going backwards? Honda totally has lost it in designing there bikes. Kawasaki still has a chance.

Agreed 100%! I think '08 may have been the best colour year offered. Not to mention, the actual hardware in the bikes is essentially the same, why pay > $400 more?

Doesn't make any sense to me. I'd say new riders who want to buy new are going to have a harder time justifying a brand new 2012 Ninja 250. I think if I was buying from the dealer and I had a choice between the 2012 Ninja and the 2011 CBR250R, I would probably just go for the Honda, because EFI and newer technology would sway me over.

(I'm a commuter the higher MPG is enticing)

Also having fuel, temp, and everything else right there is nice. Also why pay over $400 more for old tech?

I think $3,999 as the MSRP kept things competitive...and reasonable

Now if that price jump included EFI, I'd be more inclined to trade-in.

I think solid colours just give a bike a more pleasing feel. Least that's what I think. I think going overboard in styling detracts from the bike's overall look and feel.

I don't think Kawi is REALLY listening to us.... even after the survey a year or two ago, they have made NO changes. It's not like they have to engineer/figure out how to do EFI! For me, $4K was the price point where I would have gone with the 650r, but I got mine in 08, when $3.5K was only after a recent $500 increase!

They will continue to ignore consumers until their sales fall below that of competitors. Then they'll ask themselves why and do research. Until then, we'll probably have carbs for the next 2 decades or until C.A.R.B. mandates another better mpg/cleaner smog bike.

BTW, no blue = insta-fail. I like the candy lime green, but I wouldn't pay for it. Don't much care for red and the graphics on the black are awful.

Has the 2011 CBR250 price been announced? The USD to Yen is at it's worst since before WWII! I HIGHLY doubt it will retain the $4K MSRP.

Completely agree with this! I do like the new candy lime green, but WTF happened to blue? It's the fastest color, after all! You just don't do away with the fastest color!

I assume you mean 2012?

No, I don't think it has, but I"m not sure. I had thought that in the other parts of the world the CBR250R is MUCH cheaper than the 250(FI).

Even if the conversion rate is the case, then they'd end up probably being priced the same.

But even at that increased price you'd get a lot more, least when it comes to new technology.

(and the valve checks not at 7500, my first is coming up, and as interested as I am in learning how to do it, the ever approaching cloud of college classwork looms ahead too)

I think the reason why the ninja 250 is around 4500 right now is because japan have a better stock market than us at the moment.

HOPEFULLY this is not the FIXED amount for the 2012 250.

I wont be getting mines until february so i hope the price will slightly drop.

Once the MSRP is announced, it will stay that way all year. The actual selling price depends on the demand in the local area. If there are people to buy them at MSRP+, the discounts are few and far between. If there aren't and the dealers want to discount to move bikes, one can save a bit.

Like Alex said, the MSRP will stay the same, however, what you may get is a Kawasaki manufacturers incentive in your area that in effect, lowers the MSRP. You get the bike at a lower price and Kawasaki off-sets your dealer's cost of buying that bike.

Thanks. The wife is already making claim to this one so when she gets her license and MSF course I will probably give her this one and get a ZX6R. I'm lucky to have a wife that likes fast toys as much as I do.

Sorry, can't agree, I think the 2008 green is superior!

HAHA

Feels more Kawa to me is all.

But to each his own, I'd still take a pure white bike over any other.

Anyone else disappointed in the graphics? :/

I think they're ugly, but they should be optional -- at least offer a solid black color.

How can Kawasaki not give the $4449 '12 fuel injection while the CBR250R (MSRP $3999) is fuel injected as standard?

Always.

The absolute WORST was, I think, the 2011 (or was it 2010) green with the 80s checkering. Made me wonder if a disgruntled employee designed it before getting fired.

The graphics on the 2012 black reminds me of the FZ6R when it came out (2009?) with that awful giant yellow star graphic. The new ninja isn't THAT bad though.

One thing I have always liked about the Kawi paint schemes, is the solid colors. I think it looks more classy.

Solid colours win for sure!!!

Oh well:/ I'm definitely happy with my colour, I just wish I could get some new tech into there....I've heard about some definite progress in putting an EFI kit there. Slap that and a Koso RX-2 in there and maybe I'll be ok. Of course, I feel at that point, why couldn't I just get a new bike?

(Poor college kid budget though, not sure if any of that stuff is going to happen)

When I talked to the Kawi guy at ticket to ride, he said that FI would increase the price by at least 1000 or so. He said they were trying to work out a price but expect it in the US within the next few years

I would be ok with a 5k MSRP if I got modern gauges and EFI. It would be the perfect bike for me(though my bike is basically already the perfect bike)

People would still buy them, even if they cost more and had EFI. New demand is going up and not going down, and new riders are increasing day by day. I think a modern ninja would be a sales winner(even though it already is)

EDIT:

Especially in when things like MPG numbers look good. Next summer when fuel prices go even higher, having higher MPG numbers will appeal even more!

As a commuter who essentially only uses a bike to get around, if I saw the MPG numbers for both the Ninja 250 and CBR 250, I'd be really hard pressed to pick up the Ninja over the Honda

DOUBLE EDIT:

I don't think that putting out lean running carbs for better numbers is a good solution....I don't think shimming is a big deal, but it puts off the beginner market.
