Playing with an EX300 at the track

Met this guy at the local track this weekend and had a great time trying to chase down his EX300 with me on my EX250. This was my first time using a helmet-mounted GoPro, and it's surprising to me how shaky it turned out to be (the video has been stabilized by Final Cut Pro).

Do those cracks in the asphalt affect the turns much?

Not really. Turn 7 (the one I first enter at 0:32) is the worst, and I got a couple of small front end pushes on the tar strips during this session. Worse than the cracks are the bumps, which make setting up for some of the corners harder than they would be otherwise. For example, note how I avoid the asphalt patch in T2 on every lap (first time at 01:23) - that patch has a huge sharp-edged bump on the far side that prevents getting on the gas until you're past it, whereas going just outside of it lets me get on the gas right about as I get to the patch. Nice tradeoff is that after lots of laps on this track, the others in Texas seem almost smooth!

Cracks galore!!!

Next time I hear anyone complain (including myself) about tiny little cracks at our tracks in Cali I'm gonna smack them!

Try mounting the go pro on your chin bar I think you'll get less buffeting.

damn, I didn't realize that there were tracks in america that had that many cracks nice riding, I don't know how I'd handle getting used to bumping over those cracks mid corner.
