It happened.

Well, without being dramatic... I dropped her. Got home from work, took her around the block a few times because I haven't rode in about a week (slight knee injury). Parked on the sidewalk to wipe off some dust, got back on to move her back to the garage... long story short, right turn in the yard (slow speed of course) hit a root and we fell. Apparently my knee didn't like the angle/weight and gave out. Motherf***er. Killed it, picked it up like it was weightless (I'm 5'4"/130lbs) and checked for damage.

Right signal lens popped off
Dirt on obvious spots (bar end, brake lever and rear pedal)
Pride... hurtin.

Obviously nothing drastic, not even a scratch on the plastics, dirt came right off and signal lens screwed right back in. I'm sure these types of things happen, bike is fine, knee is fine... very slow speed, slow motion as I tried to gently lay it down once it was beyond the point of return. Sorry to rant, not trying to piss and moan but holy hell do I feel like an idiot.

Well... your pride may have been hurt from the drop but you should have netted a gain in pride from picking it back up so easily.

Thanks man. Adrenaline is the only logical explanation... I wrecked a 500r in high school, was in the hospital for a few days and never thought I would get on another one... That was 9 years ago, I've been so damn careful as I went back and forth for years about even getting one. I guess I would rather have had it been a gentle fall on my property (on grass) than the alternative, I just hate that I thought I was on the right track and had it all figured out (regarding the basics).

Every year that I get older I am reminded of one thing... I will never have it all figured out, lol.

Don't be embarrassed I got home from a ski holiday, slaloms, the lot, no injuries, then tripped on my trailer hitch in the garden carrying a sack of potatoes and broke two ribs.

Happens Mate. Happened to me...good thing...you didn't punch the indicator in. Mine did and it hurt seeing her like that.
Get some frame sliders if you want to be extra cautious.

I learned the hard way that street tires don't do well on grass, especially if it's wet! Hope the knee isn't torqued, and it sounds like the bike is ok. Ride on!

Thank you all for the kind words. I was upset with myself earlier but have chilled out a bit, I realized that in this life... **** will happen.

Just learn from the stuff that doesn't go as planned and ride on I guess lol could have been a lot worse so I'll count my blessings. The coulda shoulda woulda **** went out the door when we were at about a 45 degree angle from the ground, as I repeated the f bomb a few times on the way down.

Ninjinsky- hope those ribs are alright, that sounds like some **** that would happen to me.

Slider shopping as this is being typed, although I'm pretty sure they would have just impaled the ground. The knee isn't any worse than it was,

Again, the words of reassurance are much appreciated. I may take a few days before we get back on the road, we'll see.

Flite- the bike has no damage at all. I planned on ordering flush mounts anyways, so this just sped up the process... funny how things work sometimes. The knee is alright, but I do believe I need to get some of the strength back... even though you never plan on going down it's nice to know you have a damn leg to support the situation just in case. lol

awkward right turns + roots in your yard + half a bum leg = a ****ed up day.

Just yesterday, I saw a guy drop his brand BMW F800 in the parking lot at work. Opps. I ran over to help him, but he hoisted that sucker right up and took off right away.

Mehh, at least you had the excuse of hitting a root. When I first dropped my bike I um, just, dropped it... Congrats on losing your bike-dropping virginity!

Op, it's all good, it happens to everyone. The important thing is to get back up and ride again.

Thanks BoBO, it had me shook for a bit but I plan on picking up where I left off. Could have been a lot worse, it was the best scenario in a ****** situation.

^ I know how that feels. I low sided a month ago because someone left oil in the middle of the road and covered it with flour, maybe to hide hide it. I lost a bit of confidence, but I'm just glad to ride again.

Everyone drops their first bike. I did. Which is why I bought second hand in the first place. Heard too many stories of people getting scared off bikes because they fall off.

First time I was just wheeling it to the mechanic (maybe 50 metres from home). Grabbed the front brake with the front tyre turned right. Bike fell over. My leg stopped any damage.

Second time I took a right hand turn too fast (we drive on the left hand side down here), ended up on the footpath. Luckily no one was around. I would have been fine except for a low brick wall. Bike stopped and fell over. Smashed indicator.
