the turning radius of the bike remains the same, if that's what you're asking.

Oh, what I meant to ask was would a leverage effect come
Into place meaning that if you initiate a lean (same amount of push) on the stock and clip-ons would you get more lean out of the clip-ons because of the shorter bar length.

Just a fyi for drilling the holes in the woodcraft clip on bars. I used a 7/64 bit and it fit perfect and snug!

Nice installation walkthrough!
I installed mine a few months back and love them. CNC machined, perfect fit.. excellent quality. Took some time, and like you said its not something you rush/do half-ass. Being a short rider myself it is still comfortable being more stretched over the tank. I noticed now their is more weight on your hands/wrists, but i wouldn't go back to the stock set-up. Canyon riding is better now, i lean over the tank and hang off slightly and my arms aren't as bent and cramped as before

You can have the woodcraft clip-ons the same width as stock if you like, i personally narrowed them about a half inch per side max. The wider you have the bars.. the more leverage you have to turn the bike and less effort needed. Since its a light bike it was never an issue

can anyone confirm if these preload adjuster will work with woodcraft slip ons? are there any other preferred preload adjuster manufacturers?

They do, indeed. The woodcrafts are precisely what they're running in the pictures in the auction as well.

I don't know of any other make of preload adjusters, but I don't currently have any qualms with those slingshot racing ones.

slingshot adjusters seem to be pretty nice-i installed those and my wc clip-ons at the same time-i would prefer the clip-ons to be lower with a more downward angle, but i can't see anyway to do that without cutting the the fairing

Question for those who purchase these: Anyone else notice you can't angle these more than 45 degrees (or whatever the maximum angle is) because of the riser tower hitting the triple clamp?

The woodcraft clipons on my 600RR don't have that problem.

Yes I noticed, but that is what we have to live with. I do not find it an issue. Much more angle and it would hit stuff anyway.

Question... how does one tell if they have the universal WC clip ons or the ones specificly desinged for the 250? I have a set, but don't know which ones I have.

Well, the clamps should have 2.5" rise. Bars are always the same, so no problems there.

Another measurement is 37mm, but I am not sure if that is the clamp inner diameter or clamp height. Never gave it much thought... I will measure them when I get to my bike tomorrow.
If you know the part number of your clip-ons, it should be 12-4537.

edit:
If the clamps fit your fork, (37mm diameter) you should be ok.

ordered my woodcraft clip-ons from richard, very fast shipping and great price! . installed them yesterday with the help of the DIY master KKim. install went pretty smooth. stripped out 2 hex heads that hold the brackets to forks, while attempting to check that the bolts were tight. becareful and don't strip the heads like me.

but it's ok, i rode my bike over the weekend for half an hour ride on the high way and then some twistys today. i like the new position, allows you to tuck much better. and definitely a lot easier to flick in the corners. i think this is a must do if you enjoy the twistys.

only thing is i might have to re-route my brake line as it seems to hit the gauge cluster at full turn. and there is a tiny bit of rubbing on the fairing from the throttle cables. but my paint job is not that great anyhow, got the bike used so i can live with that.

edit: there is really noticeable wobble in my handle bars when i take my hands off while travelling at about 40-60 mph. maybe my air pressure is off, or the tire needs to be balanced. tires are still the originals and bike is sitting at 6000 miles. thinking about changing them out, but i don't know what's best. i'd like to get new tires that will maintain the awesome handling characteristics for the twistys. don't really care for the "bigger" back tire look.

Got my clip ons installed today but still working out final fitment tweaks. Also did the zip-tie throttle mod, replaced factory grips, and installed shorty levers.

Hopefully will be able to finish tweaking tomorrow.

Can't wait to ride it.

Well, erm. I posted all of the photos in an album (here). Just waiting on Alex to integrate them into the OP.

In case he doesn't get to it in time, you can just go to the album. The pics are in reverse order, so start on the last pic on the last page. The last 11 pics (or first 11 you see when you follow the link) are for the bar end DIY that also disappeared.

You can do it yourself, it's not all that difficult. I don't have that much experience working on these things myself.

The main 2 challenges that I encountered were:

1. Getting the handlebar grips off. Get a heatgun to melt/heat the glue so that it is more malleable. Then use a long screw driver with a wrench/clamp at the end so that it acts as pivot so that you have leverage to turn that sucker. I used dish washing soap with some water as others advised to get it to slip off easily.

2. Disassembling the left handlebar where the clutch cable resided so that you can put it on the new clip-ons was a bit scary for me. Remember where everything goes so you can put it back together.

A very easy way to get the grips off is to blast some air underneath them with an air compressor and they'll lift and slide right down.

Finally had them installed today. I Just had the dealer do it haha… I wanted to ensure I could ride it today (70 degrees on November 1st!) so I just said screw it and had the professionals install it.

I must say, the new clip-ons are awesome! I love the new position!

But what have you guys done to cover the holes on the top of the forks? It looks kinda awkward with nothing there. I saw the preload fork adjusters, but $105 seems a little steep...

Wowzers

Took about 2 hours to install today. Just got back from a testdrive...bike feels completely different, must easier to flick it around. With my height, 5'10", stock bars made my hands bend at the elbow which I think is why some of the force when trying to countersteer went into the downward motion (I've noticed this with myself). Now, hands are stretched out, any movement flicks it. And my lower back is telling me that my posture has changed as well

Install itself went fine. Had to drill out the left handlebar bolt after stripping the head, but no biggie. The rest went pretty simple.

I wound up ordering some of the fork caps from Shinto for $20... They arrived almost a year after I placed the order. Not bad for the price and look pretty decent, but worthless for what I wanted 'em for because my forks started to rust while waiting, wound up having to replace the seals.

Think there's other suppliers out there now.

kkim, thanks for the DIY. I just installed mine after about 2 hours of messing around to make sure everything was lined up right. But great instructions.

The only issue I had was with the screw that holds the clutch lever. It snapped while unscrewing it. It was always a little wobbly, but I wasn't expecting it to break. Everything else was great. Thanks again for the great DIY!
