Too good to be true?

Ok, so its about time to start teaching the girlfriend how to ride so that i can hand the ninja off to her when I get my gsxr 750 next season. Only problem is, she's only 5'1". She cant even tiptoe the ground on the ninja. So i found this complete lowering kit from roaringtoyz.com

http://www.buynowroaringtoyz.com/Kaw..._p/rtk250j.htm

It says the kit comes with the handlebar risers, lowering links and a new side stand for only $190. Most of the other kits i found were close to double that price. Just wondering if anyone with experience with lowering bikes thinks this a great deal or too good to be true.
Thanks
-Josh

EDIT: it was a typo... lol she's 5'1"...

Perhaps you should just buy her something that she will actually fit on?

Thats one of the things that worries me... The bottom of the ad says in stock but the availability says back ordered... I'm just really leery of internet sales right now because i got burned out of almost $500 less than two weeks ago with a set of farings that didn't fit worth a F@#K!

I saw that post. Not all internet sales are bad. Ebay can be sketchy. However leave bad feedback and see about filing a claim since the parts arent as they are described and are not "new" Look for legit sites, not sketchy Chinese sellers

I think I'm going to contact the company and get a little more info. And yeah, I know what you mean. I'm 5'7" and it's hard for me to flat foot.

Definitely good advice. I already left bad feedback and I'm planning on filing a claim in the next couple of days. Thanks!

Theres a guy on youtube that did a 4" drop front and back for his wife. The only problem I saw was the ready tire rubbed under the tail. I'm only looking to do 2".

Not to completely derail the thread, but I have this lowering kit on my bike. I'm 5 4 with a small inseam. The previous owner had installed this kit and lowered 1 inch, so I've never had it at stock height. I've had no complaints about the components. Without the bike lowered I'd barely be able to tip toe. I'm considering going back to stock height as I don't really need that feeling of being able to get some feet somewhat down anymore.

The roaring toyz kit is fine. There is a DIY in the Wiki and in the tech section about how to install it. Anything more than 1.5 - 2" in back is risky, and will likely result in damaging the the undertray (or worse) as the wheel contacts it while in motion and hitting a large bump.

Even with a 2" drop, make sure that the rear preload is cranked up higher than the standard #1 position.

He might need a 2" drop for his girl. I would need maybe .5" 1" max. I can deal with just being on the balls of my feet though.

I think the max drop on the Roaring Toyz kit is about 2" in the back. I dropped mine all the way down and have had some very minor rubbing of the tire on the underside of the tail. I only weigh 140 pounds, though. For someone heavier it could be a problem. I've learned to rise up on my legs and take my weight off the seat when I see a bump coming, which is what you're supposed to do anyway, and I don't really get any rubbing anymore. Now that I've been riding about a year I'm going to raise the bike back up a little bit.

Why is there such an obsession with being able to flatfoot a motorcycle? The point of riding sportbikes is not to ride with your feet down (get a cruiser for that ). She's better off learning to support the bike with one foot and practicing switching between them.

I'm glad I'm tall enough I can sit perfectly flat footed. Only people learning how to ride at first need to be flat footed if you know how to ride I would think it would be fine on tip toes

Roaring Toyz makes a good product. We have the risers on my wife's bike to get her a more upright seating position and I have a friend with a Hayabusa that has one of their kickstands. Never heard him complain about it.

My wife is 5'2" and tip toes the Ninjette at the stock height (she didn't want to lower it right away), so I'd try an inch drop first and see if that makes a difference. Another thing to watch is where her legs fall while trying to hold it up. My wife says she'd have an easier time holding it up if the footpegs were a little further back, so we might start looking for some rearsets just to move the pegs back a bit. It'd let her pull her feet in closer to the side of the bike and give her a little extra reach.

Because she is only 5'1" as, stated before, and she only weighs like 110 pounds. She's tiny. The reason for all this is i brought her to a parking lot and started showing her how to ride and before she even started the bike, if I hadn't been standing right there to catch them, both of my babies would have been on the ground...
