POD filter question

I ordered a K&N POD filter the other night, just waiting to get home and install it at the moment. I know running these filters eliminates the airbox, but is it unheard of to use an outerwear with them? I know on the quads I used to race we HAD to use outerwears on our filters when eliminating the airbox. Of course motorcycles and ATV's are much different and you do not have to worry so much about dust on the streets, but is it something that is recommended, or even used? Its been on my mind so before I make the install I want to be clear on it!

I have one on mine. I love it! Seems to stop a lot of dirt prior to getting to the filter. Also gives you some extra water repellent capability if you find your riding in the rain. I don't have to clean my filter as often with it there either. Good investment IMO.

It does suck that they cost almost as much as the pod though...

I will definitely check it out. As long as I can find it for less than the filter I wont complain, I might even have sitting around the old parts bin..

Here's the one straight from Outerwears. Looks to be about $24 shipped.

Colors available if interested.

Thanks,
I want to start doing some power mods. I went with a 15 tooth front sprocket and have been riding it for almost two seasons now. The speed of the bike just isn't as exciting. I have a danmoto slip on removed snorkel and 3 washers on my needles. I think its time for a pod filter and a jet kit then full exhaust.

Go for it. The mid-range will be a little quicker and more responsive, but above 80 mph, it's the same old 250 really.

You'll have fun tuning. Go for it!

just a note, I called around the local auto part stores and everybody was ~$50 and had to special order it. I ordered mine off eBay for $29 and received it within 24 hours! Fit fine, runs great!
