center kick stand

I read an article a while back that said these bikes had a center kick stand.
Was the author mistaken or did the previous gen 250 have one?

Pre-gens have one. Current gens don't. I used it all the time on our pregen, and miss it on the new one.

Having a center stand makes it easy to clean the bike and do maintenance. No need to buy a rear stand.

I haven't seen any. The lower fairing design makes it hard for me to picture how one would be offered, at least without modifying the stock fairing a bit.

welcome Bill - one of my very first posts on another forum was the same thing! Sadly there isn't really anything available, which is unfortunate, as I grew up with my dad's bikes having them and really grew to appreciate them! I have a rear stand which does well, but it's not as convenient imho...

Thanks kim. I just got my bike permit friday, and went to a dealer saturday to find an 09 250r, which is being delivered today, i can't wait! I do wish it had a center stand though, too bad.

I doubt you'll ever see an aftermarket center stand offered for the new-gens. The bike is too low, there's really nowhere to mount it and cornering clearance would be a big problem. I'm sure that won't stop someone from eventually trying to retro fit one on their bike and we'll read about how he pivoted himself into the woods on a corner somewhere...if he survives.
