[RideApart] - 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 Entry Level ADV Bike

2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 Entry Level ADV Bike

The Multistrada series has been great to Ducati and for 2017 the Italian’s have expanded the line-up once again, this time by going small and offering the light and sporty Multistrada 950. The goal with the miniature Multistrada is to lure new riders into the Ducati fold with an easy to ride bike built around the proven liquid cooled 937cc Testasretta L-Twin engine, trademark trellis frame and according to Ducati “A low cost of ownership.”

$13,995 will be MSRP for the*red version while the white will cost $14,195 to get one of these fine motos into your garage. They will be available starting January, 2017. The great thing is that Ducati understands that not all consumers are ready to take on the responsibility of the big, bad 1200cc ADV beasts and by releasing a smaller, supposedly easier to ride version, it should be appealing to a more sensible crowd.

Rider comfort is the big claim to fame here. This is intended to be the all-around bike that is suited for commuting, sporty rides in the mountains or long touring rides indicative of its Multistrada heritage. The 950 still has a taller seat height at 33-inches which goes hand in hand with its lanky stance and tall suspension components. Optional seats include a 32-inch and an almost 34-inch versions so you can custom fit your ride. The adjustable windscreen is tall enough to protect the rider form the elements and there is a variety of accessories to help the owner set-up the 950 to suit their specific needs. A sporty Termignoni exhaust for the sport crowd, a beefy aluminum skid plate for the folks that want to go off-road and color matched hard panniers and top case for the touring minded riders.

The 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 is designed to be extremely comfortable for both the rider and passenger thanks to a roomy rider triangle and a comfortable seat.Since the Multistrada 950 is intended to be ridden on all types of roads, it comes with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires fitted to its cast aluminum spoke wheels: 170/60-17 on the back and 129/70-19 up front. The Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) comes standard and it includes both ABS and Ducati Traction Control. Both are managed by the four unique Ride Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro) which should make the riding experience even more-safe for the new and aspiring ADV rider.

The 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 cockpit is pure Ducati. It features a compact dash and an array of rider information available at your fingertips.
Optional hard luggage combine to offer 58-litersof available storage space. When purchased with the Ducati Touring Pack, you will also get a handy center stand.
From the front, the Ducati Multistrada 950 features bright headlights and the distinct Ducati appearance.
The seat features a narrow mid-section while the passenger seat area is ni ely padded and offers an easy reach to the rear grab rail.
The Multistrada 950 features Brembo M4.32 monobloc radial calipers with four 32mm diameter pistons and 2 pads, an axial pump and dual 320mm front discs.
Optional Enduro Skid Plate should protect the bottom of that big Twin engine.
A sporty exhaust should wake the Multistrada 950 up a wee bit.
The 2017 Multistrada 950 should be a hit with riders of all types, from new to veteran, this bike should appeal to everyone.
