Fork maintenance question
I was recently servicing my forks and noticed a difference between the two tubes. With the springs out:
- one tube will collapse by itself without external forces (excluding gravity) - the other won't collapse unless assisted, very little force is required to collapse by hand Both tubes move easily up and down other than the fact that one will collapse on its own. Anyone had a similar experience and know if it's something i should look into? |

Or the assembly that drops on its own just has a little more wear on its seal and dust shield. If you change the seals, the difference should go away, since the new seals will have a lot more friction. In any case, that in itself is not a problem but as Danno was suggesting, leaking oil would be.

No leaking of oil seen, but i'll keep a close eye on it and make plans to replace fork seals in near future as a precaution.

I wouldn't worry about it.
I also wouldn't change fork seals if they're not leaking. |
