Ninja 250 carb question

I'm in the process of installing a set of 2006 Ninja 250 carbs on my 1986 Yamaha SRX600. The stock twin carb set-up on this bike is junk and from doing a bunch of research the Ninja 250 carbs seem to be an excellent replacement for this particular bike. I have a set of carbs and am getting ready to install them and was wondering what the T at the front (motor side) of the carbs is for? It's about 5'16" OD black plastic and connects to both carbs just below where the slide diaphragms are located. Does this just vent to amotsphere? Also where do the Ninja carbs get their vacuum to operate the slides? Are their internal passages in the carbs for this? Sorry for all the dumb questions, but I guess that's how you learn. Thanks for everyones time and response!!

Yes, vacuum for slides is internal.
T-junction is float-bowl vent. Use long hose and run along crank & tank drains.

Long is key, I found some grass in my float-bowls that caused all sorts of problems and cost me race-weekend down and out troubleshooting. Turned out grass found its way into carbs due to too-short vent hose. It's now 50cm long aims downwards.

Thanks DannoXYZ for the quick reply; and more importantly the information that I was looking for! I'll make sure that the float bowl vent is long enough.

THANKS for the great set of photos of the 250 Ninja carbs; tons of information there. Like they say, " a picture is worth a thousand words".
