Rode to work like normal but I also checked suspension sag so I could order front springs and emulators. Checked the sag without my gear so the numbers are a little light but close enough, Front is 46mm and rear is 31mm. The rear is a stock shock with max preload and the front is OEM(never opened).
I tried to remove the fork caps to check the stock preload but I couldn't compress the ****ing cap to remove the ****ing clip Darren and rexbo made it look easy at the track ill try again tomorrow and hopefully ill get my parts in time for next weekends trackdays at Laguna. |

What did I do to my ninjette today? i checked the valves. All 8 are still on the loose end of spec, even after me getting the rockers mixed up when I had the head apart. #score! |

Changed the oil and lubed the clutch cable. Put in Motul 300v and going to send in my T6 with 5k miles on it for a UOA w/ TBN.

I bent my shifter from a tip over in my driveway about a week ago (Yay, for noobies! - as I say that with sarcasm). Soooo, I ordered the part, which is on backorder (Just lovely! - more sarcasm). Anyways, I made a few calls and found a place in Hawaii that had 2 shifters in their stock and had them Express Mail it to me because I didn't want to wait over the Memorial weekend and damn it, I wanted to ride! I have absolutely no wrenching ability and or knowledge whatsoever if my life depended on it, but I can follow directions if they are thorough and there are good visuals!
Anyways, thanks to another website, I was able to follow directions on how to fix my bent shifter. So, I get the part today and I try to fix it. Start the bike, it's in neutral, put it into first gear and it chokes up on me and dies. I'm thinking wtf?!?! Then I tip over the bike, where I'm supporting it with my weight instead of the kickstand (but the kickstand is still down), try it again, it dies. So, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong because I'm a noob. So, I go to the local dealership and ask the parts department what might be the problem. Lesson to be learned? Kick up the kickstand ya dumb ass! It's a safety feature that I knew about somewhere in the back of my mind, but somehow I completely forgot about that in my moment of frustration. Lesson learned. I'm just proud I fixed it myself and didn't have to pay anybody. |

Finally took the bike into the twisties to get the slickness off the tyres. Happy to say I got pretty close to the edges (about an inch on both sides left), but more importantly I found out my bike really likes corners
Should have just upgraded both levers to the asv or pazzo fold-away ones. That way you won't have to worry about things snapping or bending on impact. Fully-adjustable as well so no more ridiculously far out friction zone. |

I waxed mine just yesterday, got a vertical stand to store it better in my garage considering my garage is tiny! I plan on putting some wheel stripes on and maybe adding some flat black graffix to mine to break up some of the red a little. Already picked out a few areas on the farrings where it would look good with flat black.

Went to put the gas tank back on, and realized I lost one of the dampers. Oops.
Called a few local shops and no one had anything so I drove 40 mins to a huge motorcycle junkyard that I had been meaning to check out. That place is ****ING AWESOME!!! I found the damper, and the screw I was missing to hold the gas cap on the tank. My gf found a shift linkage for her Shadow VLX. Got the tank on, and the tail fairing. Bike wouldn't start... I plugged the battery back on the tender and went out for dinner. When we came back it started like a champ. Tomorrow I'll run her for a bit, then change the oil and install a new filter. I may check and clean the oil screen. Then, I'll do my fender elimination and wire the new rear turn signals. And I'll finally get to go for a ride

Painted over the huge gash in my fender my bf left because apparently "my boyfriend did this!" stickers don't exist. Sexist mother****as.
Then I hack jobbed the clear because it was so thick and globby from being older but eh. It'll buff out. |

I did something idiotic
and my bike got taken away by the cops... *sigh* I have it back now... But it was a major pain. I'm currently hiding my new 300 from certain family members and parked it in the club next door. It was parked there for about 3 days and They called the cops and had it towed... It was my fault because I didn't inform anyone about it. What an idiot... |

Installed RaceTech emulators, .80kg springs with 15wt. oil. Initially I installed 10mm of preload but my sag was at 42mm so I added 10mm of spacers for a total of 20mm of preload then my sag was 33mm. I'm running the stiffer yellow valve spring with 4 turns of preload but the bike still feels to soft for racing. Now it did feel quite good riding across town and this may be my street setup when I'm not racing but I'm going to call RaceTech and get their opinion on .85 springs and 20wt oil. I also took the opportunity to make some nice clean bottoming marks to see how much travel I'm actually using. With 90% braking force I would normally bottom out the suspension but now I've got around 15mm or so left.
I also installed this to monitor my rear travel as well. Only 4 days left till my track day so time is getting tight |

Ordered .90kg springs for the front end so I can test .80, .85, .90 setting at the track this weekend. Also going to swap out the 15wt oil for 20wt to slow the dampening to something more similar to the sport bike suspension I'm used to.
I'm hoping to get my 31mm of sag with only 10mm of preload with the .90 springs in one or both legs. |

Just different. I could smell clutch just from riding the 250 as I would the 650. I've quickly gotten used to the power that the 650 has, the 250 is like a toy almost.

.80kg springs, 20wt fork oil, and GVE's were about as stiff as I would go in the front. You're a much better rider than I am though :P

Damn Manufacturer!!! Finally got this darn thing off!!! I hate it when they put stuff too tight!!! 2006 Ninja 650R, but still!!, might be a problem with others ;-)

I wired a switch into an H4 harness, so I can manually turn my HID on/off and use my LED halo as a running light Just need to splice a 12V regulator and some bullet connectors into my halo and I'm good to go. No more power usage issues for this guy, even on short trips!!
Added benefit is now my bike will look like those Bimmer headlights to approaching traffic. |

Yeah the clutch on the 650 instantly grabs. I love it. I can almost just dump it. The clutch on the 250 is really light, and I just haven't been used to that. When I first got on the 650 at the dealer, the clutch was so freakin stiff. I'm glad it got a bit better. But yes, I was completely maxing the 250 out :P

Removed intake snorkel, shimmed the needles up by 2 (drywall bits work great if you can't readily find a JIS set), new air filter (temporary pods to come), redid wiring for the proton flush mounts with new bullet connectors, new electronic signal relat (Tridon EP34), clean chain. Just got back from a delightfully spirited drive and checked the plugs; right on the money right now. Much more to come with a new sprocket setup, emission block off plate, jet kit, full exhaust, and pods.

Got to ride my new suspension for the first time and I'd say its a lot better for the street. It has a much more planted feeling and soaks up road undulations a lot better, but in the end the biggest Improvment is the braking.
If you guys remember I don't exactly have stock anything front brake related a d although it was an improvment it wasn't as big of one as I had hoped. I always suspected the exaggerated front end dive when applying the front was keeping be from using 100% for fear of bottoming the front end going into a turn(happens all the time if I ride at a fun pace). Now with the stiffer front end I can give it 100% braking force with no fear of slamming the bumpers and I can easily lift the rear wheel if I so choose. After today I'm rethinking changing strait to the .90 springs in both legs and instead ill try just one so get a .85 rate. The jury is still out on wether ill change from 15wt oil to 20wt before the first day or after |
