Top speed 92 mph.. Sigh QQ
Bought bike on 30th december and clocked at 1400 km.
I only removed snorkel and since it's fuel injected with o2 sensor, there was no need to do anything else. So i tried to test it's full speed and in 6th gear it doesnt go beyond 145 kmph? I even bend down for reducing air drag and my kerb weight is 60 kg XDDD So i wonder what's wrong.. I expected it go beyond 170 kmph easily.. I even use premium 91 octAne fuel with friction busters. And i get my fuel from best and most renowed petrol pump. Ugh.. This is irritating QQ Anyone else facing such issue?

Put the snorkel back in and try it. Many of us here have the US bike, so not much is readily known about the FI version.
Is gas measured on the RON system in India? |

Terminal velocity is a power thing. You're getting to the point where the power made by the bike is the same as the power of the wind you're going into on the surface of the vehicle. Changing the gearing without making any other modifications won't raise top speed. If you're really into top speed, get the bike on a dyno, and get the ECU reprogrammed (or use a Powercommander) so that you make as much power as possible. Changing gearing just moves the power band to a different speed, which doesn't do anything for top speed unless there's more power to be found there

I reach that speed in 5th gear too and at 13k rpm.
6th gear.. I am stuck at 10-11k rpm -..- And yes, i even have 30 psi in front tire and 35 in reAr -..-

My ninjette is fuel injected and I can get to 145 kmph with ~4000-5000 rpm left over. That was with the recommended 28psi in front and 32 in rear.
Next time I'm on the motorway I'll see how fast it will go and get back to you. |

if you bike produces the same power curve that our bikes do then you maximum horsepower is at 10k which explains why you cant go past that point in 6th. To go faster you would probably need a new exhaust system and get a power commander

Hmm... I never tried to get past about 10/11K in 60th. I'm super curious now. I've gotta give this a go on Sunday and see what the top speed is. I always expected it to be just about 100MPH

I don't currently have a way to accurately measure my true speed while riding. However I do feel like my speedo is quite accurate based on the indicated speed and the speed of other cars on the freeway. i.e. I'll be passing cars in very light traffic on the freeway while going 70-75mph indicated. If it's off at all then it's only by a very small percentage. Now my pregen on the other hand, that things speedo is waaaayyyyyyy off. At least 10% or more

My bike only indicates 150km/h max. But I found out early on that its optimistic because when I'm travelling at 65 km/h on the streets I get people honking at me. So I'm pretty much getting the same results as the OP. I'm 180 lbs though, so probably heavier than the OP is...and that's in full tuck wearing a backpack full of things. If I wasn't wearing a backpack I might be able to gain a few more ticks on my speedo.

I've hit 102 indicated, but that was going down a large bridge. On a flat with no obstacles, I always top out at 90-95 depending on the air temperature and humidity. Funny enough it does change the speed, only a little though.

I just found a gps speedometer app on my phone that will record my max speed. Looking forward to my speed run on Sunday! Hope it goes to 100 indicated... then I can tell people "my bike does AT LEAST 100MPH... probably tops out at like 300" ^_^

Close to sea level taking the snorkel off is probably not neccesary. If you're high above sea level it might help though.
Any idea how high you are? Also - your bike is still pretty low on kms, might loosen up a bit over time and get more speed out of it. --- I've got no idea what my top is Cruised pretty well at 140km/h indicated, although I needed a bit of a downhill to get to 160km/h. I'll take it on the highway again sometime after I've done the 15000km service. |
