By the halfway mark of this practice session, Jorge Lorenzo's 1'31.111 from FP2 was still the quickest time of the weekend, but Marc Marquez, one of the riders improving early on their time from yesterday, consolidated his second place on the list posting a time within a tenth of a second slower than Lorenzo.

In the last ten minutes, after everyone pitted in for the last dash, free practice three looked like a qualifying session. Marc Marquez slid into the top spot with Valentino Rossi a mere four thousandths slower. Andrea Ianonne then took a spell at the top, punishing his soft tyre for a 1'30.925 while Jorge Lorenzo lost a couple of tenths to Ducati's Michele Pirro's plodding through a fast sector.
