Installed m4 exhaust bracket, removed passenger pegs. Installed 15T CS sprocket. Rained off and on all day. Maybe a test ride tomorrow.

Went for an "end of summer ride", did about 200 miles. Hit some good twisties and had perfect weather.

Replaced triples and found out that my steering lock wasn't broken, I just had to tighten the top nut (right before the steering stem nut) down more.

New front fairing (needs decals eventually) and found out that either my speedometer assembly or speedometer cable are broken. Fixing the speedometer is the last thing I need to do before taking it on my commutes again to see if the steering/tracking is back to normal. Also, those bearings on the lower part of the triples are a pain in the ass to put back in without them falling out, took me a good 30 minutes of frustration and grease to get that **** back together.

Also went back to a 14T front sprocket, will keep the 15T in case I ever want to change it out down the road.

Lost two header bolts for the exhaust on the way to work. Anyone know what size bolts I need?

Edit: I need two 8mm nuts

Motul chain lube (road) is now my new favorite thang. Been stocking up on both Road and Factory Line ever since STG and Motorcycle Superstore have had their free shipping promo.

Rode around aimlessly for "lunch" then filled her up.

244 miles (not all today) on that tank, 4.48 gallons. ~54mpg. and that's with 2 washers per needle, intake snorkel removed and a modded GSXR muffler.

Ok I'm tired of adjusting this damn piece of **** chain. I swear I'm adjusting it nearly every time I ride for any sort of distance. Also, despite my frequent cleaning and lubing, it constantly looks completely coated in rust and showers the whole back end of my bike with the **** too. Using a non o-ring chain was a mistake. (Made an error ordering but decided to use it anyway). **** this ****. I'm getting a new chain.

Installed a new accessory fuse box and hooked up a relay to run the thing with the ignition switch. Still need to mount it and clean up the connections and tomorrow I'll start plugging in the gizmos!

New windshield

So today I replaced the stock windshield with one of the double bubbles windshields I found online for about 16 bucks which I came across in one of the forums on here which decent reviews. I decided to change it to double bubble because ive started riding it on freeways and the wind is kind of an issue. Ill be riding back to south jersey end of the weekend so ill notice the true difference then if theres any.

Pulled off the tank/fairings again, and rutted around looking for some obvious leak. Again failed to figure out why I'm only getting 30mpg.

Do you weigh 300 lbs? Seriously, that is some bad gas mileage.

I know. I used to get 65mpg. My mechanic friend rode it around and said it wasn't doing anything mechanically funky. Said it seemed smooth. Blaaaaah.

I took a beautiful ride from Portland, OR up over Mount Hood over to Tygh Valley via 26 to 216 to 197 and then took forest road 48 back over the mountain back to Portland :-) It was an awesome ride!! All said and done it was about a 230 mile trip in one day which is a huge accomplishment for me

Patched up cracks in fairings from both bikes with ABS cement. I noticed that the 300's fairings are flimsier than the 250's fairings. The plastic is noticeably thinner.

Cleaned and lubed the chain. Also oil change before my Tuesday thing, and an upcoming moto camping trip about which I've been very excited for the last couple months.

... Well, not the latter so much. My dad insisted I use his torque wrench. I found out the hard way that it's a busted pos from Harbor Freight or something. Basically, the drain plug bolt and the other bolt that secures the oil filter cover were both over-tightened to the point of the drain plug being embedded into the washer, and everything that either of those bolts go into being cracked to hell and back. All because of a busted torque wrench. So on to ordering more parts and buying more oil that I can't afford.

Motorcycle(s): CBR650F replacing the Ninja 300

This was yesterday (as I've only just found this thread)... said goodbye to our 250 weenie greenies and hello to our new (not so) weenie greenie 300's.

I hope our 250s aren't too sad, we were together for 4 years.

Today I am hoping to adjust the idle down on my 300 as it runs around 2000rpm whereas the other bike runs at 1500.

Nice, Xorro!

Looking for parts to replace the ones busted yesterday. Also continuing to kiss and snuggle my bike and apologize. Poor buddy.

That sucks

certain tools shouldn't come from the bargain bin, a torque wrench is one of them. Also precision tools require maintenance and with out it they'll quickly become POS.

That sucks

certain tools shouldn't come from the bargain bin, a torque wrench is one of them. Also precision tools require maintenance and with out it they'll quickly become POS.
Yeah, I thought I could trust my dad's tools, but I guess as a woodworker, he doesn't really maintain his precision tools for car/mechanical work. It just happened at a really inopportune time, since I have ride commitments, including a moto camping trip this weekend.

So parts hunting, I am. And apologizing to my Ninja. Poor little Ninja.

Today I adjusted down the idle from 2000rpm to 1500 (and burnt my hand on the engine).

First mod: Remove information sticker from tank.

Found a single small wire had busted and rendered all my fancy new accessory plugs useless. Spent this morning tracking down the problem, fixing it, cleaning up a bit of my botched connections, and putting the bike back together again. Fingers crossed they all work now!

I like the way the 300 exhaust looks personally.
