[faster and faster] - 2015 BMW R1200RS marks the return of the Bavarian sports-tourer
BMW unveiled the 2015 R1200RS sports-tourer last week, and the bike looks fresh and exciting. Powered by the same 125bhp/125Nm opposed-twin that’s also used on the R1200GS and R1200RT, and packed with electronics like anti-lock brakes, stability control and traction control, the new R1200RS could well be the fast, refined European sports-tourer that long-distance riders will love most. This is a high-tech machine, with its tubular steel bridge frame (that uses the engine as a self-supporting element), USD fork at the front and single-sided Paralever shaft-drive system at the back. With dynamic ESA, suspension is electronically adjustable and to emphasise the bike’s sporting intent, the R1200RS even takes some styling cues from the beastly new S1000RR. The 2015 BMW R1200RS should reach dealerships later this year and we think this motorcycle is going to be a hit with long-distance riders in Europe and the US. And for those who don’t need a fairing, there’s also the new, 2015 BMW R1200R, which shares its engine, chassis, suspension and all mechanicals with its faired sibling.
