Help with Paddock Stands??

Hi, I'm fairly new to biking and I'd like to get a set of paddock stands,

I've found these which I've read in magazines are a fairly good inexpensive set,

and seeing as they are substancially reduced in price I thought now is as good a time as any to get some, my question is whether I need to buy any bobbins to go with these specific stands? and if so what size,

Also does anyone have any experience with the Abba wheel spinner?

Is it a decent alternative for just lubing chain?

Depends what kind of stand you use, some use spools which attach to the swingarm, if I can remember correctly they are 10mm. The other rearstand alternative is the one which lifts the bike by heaving up the swingarm. No attachments are needed.

The ones that you posted up don't need 'bobbins', they just jack up the swingarm. As for the wheelie-spinny thingo, don't worry about it, just get a rearstand instead, and use your hands to rotate the rear wheel when cleaning/lubing the chain.

Pitbulls are the best stands by far. With the support they give the rider community, and the quality of the stands, I'll never own any other brand. (especially the brands that copied the design)

If you plan on doing any work on a motorcycle yourself you should own a set of stands. Good stands will last a lifetime. I'm still using stands that I bought in the early 80's but my favorites are my Pitbulls.

There are a lot of cheap stands that will bend/fall apart. It's worth spending a bit more now on stands you can keep forever and you're really not saving money if your bike falls off a cheap stand.

There are lots of good stands but these are my favorites:

Pitbull rear fits just about every motorcycle with a standard swingarm. Works with spools and without. Both pregen and newgen 250's.

Pitbull forklift front stand. Works with just about every motorcycle including all 250 ninjas.

Pitbull also sells a converter that allows you to lift the bike from the steering stem so that you can remove the forks. I've never tried this piece myself as I have an old stand for that job.

Just about everyone in the race paddock has Pitbull stands. Motorcycle racers are notoriously cheap/broke. If racers are spending the extra bucks there has to be a good reason.

I started out with a pos swingarm stand from Harbor Freight. After fighting with that thing, I bought a Redline rear stand and a set of swingarm spools. 100.00 at my local mc shop. Very high quality and easy to use...Highly recommended!

I have the converter and it works great! Actually, now that I think about it I rarely remove the converter from the fork lift. I still like the ability to switch out for whatever job I'm doing and if i don't have the right lifting pin for a given bike.

And I'll second the cheap/broke racer comment.

I've got the 2 Pitbull stands - the rear SS one and the Newfront front stand. One of the best investments for motorcycling I've made so far. Like the above poster said - they will last a lifetime and get handed down to your grandkids, etc. They are overbuilt and heavy duty, but not cheap.
