RAM Mount EZ On/Off Ipod mount
So I often listen to my iPod when out riding, and when on my own I just stuff it in my jacket pocket, but when riding with Mizono... he likes to talk when we're stopped at stop lights I don't like having 1 plug out and 1 in, and it was a hassel to find a way to pause it at every stop, so I eventually taped it with packing tape to the brake res. box. It worked, but was kind of silly, so I went on Amazon to find something to mount my iPod on and found this for $18.
I just installed it. It holds my iPod nano fairly snugly, and even though I haven't gone highway speeds with it yet, I'm sure it would stay nice and tight. It allows you to turn the plate in several different directions so you can find the one you like (pics show it in a horizontal and vertical position). You can take the top spring-loaded part off to go with you, or you can leave it on the bike and just take the iPod off. The kit comes with 2 zip ties, 2 handlebar mounts (one tapered, one not), the base plate, the ipod plate, the middle plate, a sheet of some sticky rubber material and nuts/bolts. It's fairly easy to install: You get the base plate that fits your handlebars (For the 250, it's the non-tapered one) and fine a spot to put it on your handlebars. I tried using the sticky rubber, but where I mounted the thing to where the zip-ties could actually hold it to the bar, would not allow the sticky rubber. The zip ties are what actually holds it to the bike, it doesn't actually clamp on. My mounting location on left handlebar... that way I can control it with my left hand easily. Close-up of the zip-tie mounting they use. The gap is just a wee bit too small to fit it in comfortably, so you have to zip really tightly to prevent slippage. The spring-loaded middle plate, screwed on to the iPod top plate. Top plate connected to handlebar mount, iPod off. iPod mounted Again The iPod mount can be turned however you want |

I use the same RAM mount (with a different base) on my RT. It works great!

funny this is posted i just came in from putting one on the fazer. I went with this mount
http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResu...5/Default.aspx i liked where it mounted. IMG_0279 by Havok3c, on Flickr IMG_0281 by Havok3c, on Flickr In this one you see the audio connector, I stole this idea from kevin1209, its a male to female connector i have it snaked through the controls it then goes under the gas tank to the seat. the female end comes out under the seat to the side a bit. IMG_0283 by Havok3c, on Flickr IMG_0284 by Havok3c, on Flickr I can then either jack into it with headphones or if i have my scala rider i run a connector up my jacket to a booster then jack that into the scala rider. i plan on ordering the same set up for the ninja as well, I needed it on the fazer first though. |
