Anyone here Thats Never had a single accident in their whole riding career??

The crash from my bicycle a few months ago has healed but there is still a nice dark pink scar on my knee from the road rash. What happened? I low sided my bike when my rear wheel gave out on a turn when it I hit sand.

Anyway, I'm not superstitious, nor do I believe in "jinxing". So, I haven't crashed the motorcycle that I don't have yet.

I'll tempt fate and say that I have never gone down on the street while moving (I'm presuming crashing off-road on a dirtbike doesn't count for the purposes of this thread).

I was rear ended at a stop sign once while I was at a complete stop, so maybe that counts as an accident, but it wasn't a crash.

No. At least 20-30 MPH. I was going down a hill, wen around a bend, and hit some sand on my rear wheel. Lost control, and low sided. Slid a few feet. Scratched three sides of my right knee. The rash was bleeding water for days lol.

So I wasn't going 40, but I was going fast for a bicycle. You can hit pretty amazing speeds on that steep mountain. It's not that elevated, but definitively steep.

Just so all of you know, no gear besides helmet.

Lowsided last year. Taking a turn (probably a little quicker than I should have been going), and there was sand. A lot. Fortunately I was only doing 40kph, so I just picked myself up, brushed myself off, picked up my bike and waited for my engine to drain.

If bicycles are going to share the road, then they have to be subject to traffic laws as well, with exceptions where safety may be concerned. Speeding isn't one of those exceptions. If the cop would have lit up a vehicle for 30 in a 25, then the bicyclist is fair game. And no excuses about but they don't have speedometers.

They have to follow all traffic laws in NY state. That's why I practice taking corner properly. Hence the lowside lol

I don't believe in jinx so

I have never crashed in 3yrs, about 1000 miles first year, 9000 last year, almost 4000 so far this year. The worst I have done was I pulled my old 250 over on top of myself while working on it in the garage. Lesson from that, don't break loose higher torque bolts on the center stand.

I know a lot of people believe you will eventually crash if you ride. I don't subscribe to that. I know it is always a possibility, some factors are beyond your control, but I fully intend to keep my streak going.

I think my biggest thing is I didn't start riding until 3 hrs ago, if I had started when I was 18-20 I would have a very different story I am sure. I have 20 yrs in a car and a very different outlook than I did back then!

I don't know about that. I think it has more to do with my fear of pain and needles. Oh, and the realization that I am not imortal like I thought I was when I was younger.

Of course that was yrs, damn autocorrect. 25 miles to work one way often 6 days a week adds up but not quite THAT fast!!!

Not trying to hijack the fraying thread, but

I wonder how a speeding ticket on a bicycle would work? Can they put points on your license when the vehicle in question doesn't require a license? Same thing, could you get your license revoked for multiple offenses? It wouldn't do any good because you don't need a license for the bicycle!

I used to have a bicycle with a gas engine mounted to the back, I never brought it home to the US so I never had the chance to get a speeding ticket on it, but it would go pretty fast for a bicycle! Maybe 30 or so never got to check it. That would be the only way my lazy butt ever got that kind of ticket!!!

Title should read "crashing thread", stupid iPad autocorrect!!

Maybe 30 or so never got to check it. That would be the only way my lazy butt ever got that kind of ticket!!!

Title should read "crashing thread", stupid iPad autocorrect!!
I don't even have a permit, so who are they going to give the ticket to? I'd just make up a name, or use my real name then frame it lol (like someone else said).

Thankfully I've never crashed. I catch crap for buying a brand new bike from the showroom as my first bike as 'everyone drops their first bike.' I have fallen over with it in my garage due to the all-too-common catastrophic kickstand failure, and of course I broke the clutch lever and bent in the shifter, and got a tiny scratch from trying to pick it back up; nothing different than a rock kicking up on the freeway.

It's not that I'm a wuss and don't ride hard. My 'chicken strip' is very narrow and I've scraped my pegs a few times. If I do crash though, 99% sure it'll be because of someone else screwing up (of course that'll be coupled with me not reacting in time or properly).

I have had one close call though. I was riding the left lane at about 70 and a rock or some heavy dust kicked up got through my vent and into my eyes. Of course I started watering up real bad and couldn't see for a second. Just at that moment the highway started to curve right and I rode on the line for a sec and started getting a front wheel wobble. I applied my brakes hard but smooth to not lock up my wheels (somehow I did that instinctively because all I could think about was HOLY CRAP I'M GOING TO DIE). I ended up running up on the left-hand shoulder, which was pretty wide at that specific point. Any sooner and I would've ended up in a guardrail, and any later I would've been on a small shoulder that turns into grass. The next few times I rode that lane I could see the wobbling tire marks I made in the layer of dirt on the paved shoulder. Needless to say, I close my front vent when I get on the highway.
