Tale of a 250

Hey just wanted to introduce myself. I bought my 2009 Ninja 250 for $700 as a project bike. Apparently was stolen, used in a police chase, and dumped in a ditch all in a weekend. Lucky for me as it gave me a great deal. The bike is mechanically sound and only has 5000 miles. The bike needs only signals and mirrors which I have already completed. Fairings are next step, but I keep finding little things I like to add onto it. This is also my first motorcycle I have owned and riden myself! well that's all I can think of lol see all you around!

Welcome Aaron!

That is too bad of story for you first bike. May the rest of your riding years be less eventful. Good luck with your repairs/mods.

thats very interesting. I can relate. My first bike was a 1982 Famel xf17 from portugal. The owner died on that bike from slipping into a ditch. All it needed was a new handlebar and all was good. Pretty sad still though.

Too bad it was stolen. But then again, most of stolen bikes are no where to be found. Incredible story and experience. Not all of us have encountered same experience as yours. Welcome mate!

Welcome Aaron.

Because you said this was your first motorcycle I would suggest checking into a MSF basic riding course. It will get you started with proper techniques, and steepen your learning curve. I don't know how much riding experience you have, but the street isn't a good place to learn to operate a cycle.

Make sure you have decent safety gear. Most of the experienced riders here wear full gear all the time. You can often find most of what you need for cheap on Craigslist.

Congrats on your purchase, have fun, and ride safe!

Fixed it for ya.

That bike has street cred. A bada$$ right out of the box.

PS: Aaron, don't do that stuff, m'kay?

Welcome! You'll have a good story to tell people about your bike.

I definitely second the recommendation to take a safety course. I've been around bikes for a long time, and played with dirtbikes and whatnot, but when I wanted to get my street license, I took the course. Even for the couple of guys in our class who had experience, it was very useful. Experienced riders will learn different things than those of us who were newer did, but it's still a very good thing.

Welcome Aaron! My '99 ninjette was a $700 salvage title moto when I got it. It has since become a champ with a 187 mpg performance. You can accomplish great things with your Ninjette!

Nice bike, Aaron! You did well for the price. I imagine it would be a great track bike also, and when you get done with the MSF course and have some experience on the street with it, you may want to consider finding a local track to have some fun on! Most have a novice group that will give instruction also to those who are new to the track. It's a lot of fun, and safer than the street for finding how well your bike can handle! Welcome!!
