----------------- The intermediate class closed day one in Portugal in breezy but sunny conditions and with significant improvements on the timesheets, Raul Fernandez taking over at the front by only two thousandths of a second from Sam Lowes. Remy Gardner’s third place doesn’t tell the full story of his eventful end to the session, clipping the back of Marcos Ramirez and flying into the gravel trap at turn 15. Thankfully both riders were up and walking in no time, but giving their teams a lot of work tonight.
