Upper fairing/windscreen bolts

I bought an upper fairing and windshield for my pregen, but I don't have the hardware to mount it onto the bike. Now, I read this page:

http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Replaci...asteners/bolts

And, when it says something like "5x15mm," it means an M5 bolt that is 15mm long, correct?

Also, would it be okay if I just went to the hardware store and got some crappy Zinc bolts and used those? I do plan to ride on the highway, but I don't think the bolts would be under so much stress that it'd matter, but second opinions would be appreciated.

Thank you!
