HR-1 Exhaust Question

Does anyone have the HR-1 exhaust from hardrockmotorsports.com? And if you do can you tell me what you like/dont like about it, how hard was it to install, and what all you really needed for it. I want a new exhaust and I like the way they look and sounds but I want to know if it's worth the money and if it's hard to install and what not.

1st It's TOO Loud Might as well run a straight pipe
2nd It's cheaply made...rivets fall out ,paint fades , you have to cut your stock header off at the footpeg , and i had to take apart the endcap to adjust it
3rd For the $$$ ...you might as well buy a full system

I had this HR-1 for a month and felt like a fool riding with it.

lol I almost bought one of the exhausts till I saw it in person. Besides a full system is not that much more like a Yoshi or a AP. Then you have other stuff like what I sell that is considerably cheaper for a full exhaust with the same power gains. Exhausts is just a matter of preference. If you want HR1 get one non painted and have it powered coated and redo the rivets. It will take some effort but then it will be done right like it should have been in the first place. Happy riding.

Hmm sounds like more trouble then its worth and if I'm paying that much for something I want it to work the first time without having to change anything. I guess I'll keep searching...

I would beg to differ on that. But AP does make top notch products.

not knocking other products .... but for quality, price and customer service i personally don't think anything else can touch area-p... i researched cans and full systems for almost 6 months before i purchased... everything you read about kerry and his product is true... the best compliment i've gotten so far from a couple of certified motorcycle geeks is that theyve never seen such symmetry with the pipes and the quality was top-notch... after they rode my "600" i let them in on the 250 secret... and then smiled when i rode away....

and yes damnit, a buddy I know has this pipe and this thing is LOUD. like a plane. but more on the ugly loud side
if you have to cut part of the header pipe, then wow.. I'm really glad I didn't buy this one.

Customer service I can match, Price I beat handley, quality is pretty damn good on sportisi and it comes with a 3 year warranty on the packing.

As for the 6oo I had that happen to me as well the guys about dropped their bikes when they saw it and heard if was a weasly lil 250. lol

Nothing wrong with sharing your opinions, but the more you say how your product is better because you say it is, the more resistance and skepticism you'll run into. It's human nature. If it's really that good, your customers should be the ones telling people how happy they are with it. There should be full dyno runs posted in the Tech section. Not from you, but from people who have installed them on their own bikes and are happy with the measured and confirmed gains. The general consensus here is that slip-ons for the new-gen 250 do absolutely zero for performance, and only increase (and perhaps in some people's opinions, improve) the noise level. The restrictions on flow just aren't in the stock exhaust can, they are in the cats further up the system.

I agree with you, Alex... only "correction" is that the cats in our bikes are both in the muffler and the pipe.... or what Kawi refers to as cats.

I knew there were 2 small cats on the new-gen, I thought they were both upstream of the can. Didn't realize there was 1 in each.

I'm well aware of skepticism on forums. But to say hands down one exhaust is better than another when you have no knowledge of or experience with the other is not right either. AP makes good products I won't argue that hell I even owned one I just found something better. I am wondering though why you bring up slipons. I know they offer no gain only sound and this is why I only sell full systems. But like I said before exhausts are just a matter of preference. Ask 100 different people what they prefer in the full systems and you'll get 2 answers AP and Yoshi but only because that was the only two available until fairly recent history.

the fact you don't even have a set to sell in the states may have something to do with the skepticism. That you are touting the benefits without actually having tested the product firsthand and being the sales person and all, only adds.

you need to read carefully what Alex has stated.

I know what he said KKim. The exhaust will be here shortly and it will go throw the gears. Right now the only person I have on here who can attest to the exhausts is Mike Sema

As far as I'm concerned, the more people selling interesting products for the ninjette to happy customers, the better. Period. I hope your venture is successful, I hope that people are ecstaticly happy with the performance gains and value you're offering, and as always, the best products for the right cost tend to work themselves to the top.

Get it in the hands of people who you want to talk about it. Get it in the hands of people who can test it and write about it. Get it in the hands of magazine testers. All of these ways will let it stand on its own merits and will allow it to sell itself. Posting in the manner that you have here over the past week or two ("stuff I sell is best, exhausts are a personal thing except mine is best and cheapest, AP is great but I'm better"), is IMO making it a harder sell for you to folks here. It's not my business, and you're not breaking any rules on this site, so it's still completely up to you how to promote your business. All I'm suggesting is that if it were me, I'd be doing it a little differently. Good luck...

I agree with what you've said and like I said before exhaust choice ends up being preference. My preference is sportisi is better just like thebulusone's is that AP. As a seller I have to live by my products and need more exposure as you said. What I am offering is the cheapest full system available with the same gains and there are dynos to back that statement up. Either way I will not post again on exhaust till I have a bunch in stock.

Only reason I'm not using it is that I went with a GSX-R swap onto an Area-P header, otherwise I'd probably have it mounted right now.

With that GSXR can was there anything complicated with the instal? Where can you get them(cheap)? Have you noticed any improved performance/sound?

It requires a good welder and about 2-3 hours for clean work.

They are all over eBay. I paid $15 for a take off.

I gained 4 horse power with it, an Area P header, jetting and K&N's.
