I'm no bueno for May dates. Buuuuuuuut I like the sounds of that twilight day.

Baby needs tires and I need to clean my front brake caliper because it's a bit... Clicky. But I'm interested in going back this summer.

ikr... 23 degrees one day, 69 degrees the next. I love this weather, but the snow is getting kinda old. It's fun to play in on the 4wheeler though.

I'm down for the july dates.

the 27th is no novice but if I have track time at another track and get into the I group there would that be enough for them to let me in?
I'm planning on riding shenandoah, wv july 13th/14th so I should be able to get up to the I pace. Just hoping that a set of pirelli's on my pregen will last 4 track days within a month

If I'm driving all the way out there and back I for sure want to do 2 days of riding.

Trust brah... a twilight is no place for the novice level rider, maybe not even the budding I group rider. The pace of twilight's are normal "I group" +some or +alot depending on the mix of riders present. Hell, some have challenged AMA pro race lap times. As much as I would like you to get ya some, best skip that one.

They like you to have 4+ track days under your belt within the past 12 months before trying to bite off a twilight. 165mph coming up on turn 7, with a 250 in your way aint no joke.

we're hitting the Beav this weekend. Zack's stepped up to my 600rr, and i'm back on my Ape for the time being. But we ARE hitting MidO on June 23 (Monday). I've been able to talk another ninjette rider to come along. It'll be his first trackday. woohoo!

I want to but it's not a guarantee at this point, I'll let you know in this thread in july if I'll head over to midOhio or do 2 days for the same price (incl travel) at shenandoah instead. I get my parts bike to start building my track bike through june on saturday.

hopefully my tires look like a cbr's tires that I saw today by the end of the summer. He is showing hints of cords on the sides of his rear tire and the center is almost new. The guy definitely did a track day or two on his bike to pull that off.

going from the 250 to the 600 for Zack was a LOT easier than i thought (i was up most of the nite before the TD worrying about it...). should have seen the expression on his face after returning from his first session.

after session 2 it was more like

and by session 3 he was quicker than the rest of veteran 600 riders
running 1:07s at the Beav aint too shabby.

it should be a testament how well the 250 prepares a rider for eventually upsizing. here's a clip of the fun.
see you at MID OHIO.

INNNNNNNN!!

K y'all, I have a job that looks like it's good for the whole summer. I'm in for either one (or both) of the proposed dates in July. Heck, even if I only ride one of the two, I'll likely still show for both and goof off with a bicycle and Chris's camera from the infield.

I just had to cancel a ride because of my uber terrible tires. Center of the rear had only 0.28mm of tread depth and a couple big cuts in it!! and to think I was about to go for a couple hours ride!! Both are 2 years old and have 6000+ miles and 3 track days on them. No shame in replacing both at the same time.

Anyhow, new set of Diablo Scoots looks to be about $150. Intiminators for the front end look about $150. Track day should be about $200, $300 if I do both days. I think I'm still good on gear. Pads are good. DOT5.1 is good. Coolant is still good, oil just got changed, prepping for track should be as simple as checking all my bolts and getting out the RTV. Let's do this! Chone is in and is gonna ask Grannie for $$$ if needed IWANNAGOFAST!!!

@Sirref, you still in buddy?! Get ready!

!!!

I can assure you... not having a track ready bike will not be the reason you don't ride. I will bring both bikes just in case. I have a bunch of friends racing the pregens, I will see if they have in takeoffs for cheap. Bonus is, many of those riders live near cleveland and you might be able to pick them up local. Lemme see what I can do.

Don't forget, the 27th is twilight format (3-dusk w/ A & I riders at the same time). In July, the pace could be VERY fast, especially if the weather is good (which it WILL be). Think about that before spending the paper.

I will let you make the call.

They like you to have 3-4 track days under your belt before trying to bite off a twilight, and you have that . Depending on the mix of riders present, it could be fast and you might feel out of place. But if the turnout is light, it shouldn't be a problem overall aside of a drama queen (twilight's bring out the hard core riders in this area ). You can hold your line at pace, that is all that really matters anyway. Closing speed will be a concern as well, but with only A & I riders on the track, everyone better darn well know what and what NOT to do.

Let's have a look at the situation that day and if you want to ride, bring the $$ and just pay at registration. We can throw a control rider vest on ya so everyone plays nice. lol After all, it's still just a track day and should be treated as such.

What is the rule on back protection at Mid Ohio? For novice can you use the one that cones with your leathers or textile jackets?

Back protectors are not required for the N group, but I encourage all groups to wear one if they have it.

Alright so, due to the timing of the event I will only be able to make it if one thing happens. I buy a pickup truck before this event goes down. I am selling my golf within the next few weeks but I won't really be getting enough for it to cover the truck that I'm trying to get though it will help. Unfortunately I cannot borrow my mom's suv on a workday when she needs it and take it out of state.

So, I've been doing reasonably well at my new job and it is a possibility that I can pick up a pickup in time but it's also likely that I may hold off on buying one until closer to the fall (I'm trying to purchase in cash so I don't have any loans to deal with but I may give in)

Nope, no need to get one unless it's what you want. If mine will fit ya, and you are riding a different group than I am, your welcome to wear it. No charge for the sweat.

So I just agreed to purchase a pickup truck, I'll be sharing it with my little sister for the summer but I should be able to reserve it for this trip (and my other track days)

yep, and once my lil sister goes back to school for the fall it'll be all mine hahaha

it's a 4x4 ford ranger in mint condition with around 100k miles. I know the owner well (have known the owner for roughly 20 of my 21 years alive) and he maintains everything he owns better than anyone else that I know.
I'll have to put the bike in at an angle if I want to close the tailgate and if I want to keep the ramp and a cooler/toolbox/etc in the bed I'll have to close the gate in addition to securing them if only for peace of mind. It has an extended cab so I'll be able to fit all of my gear in the cab and take a passenger if I want to. I got a good deal on it too so I may do 3 track weekends this year

July 13th/14th at shenandoah

Sometime in august for 2 days in August

It's all up to finances and if I crash at shenny now lol
