My clothes fell off! Pregen cafe build

It started. I never liked the pregen looks, sorry fellow Ninjetters!

I started by collecting parts. Got a muzzy header,K&N, single gauge, headlight, 1992 zx600 front and rear end and wheels, zx6rr radial brake master,2009 gsxr shock, making a custom seat.

Most of the mods planned are purely for aesthetic reasons, some will make exactly zero sense to some.

I already fitted the front end from the zx600 with the All Balls swap kit.
I wanted the dual disks and taller wider front and possible wider rear tire. Pics on that coming soon.

I need to do 2 up so its going to be flat but with a poofy leather hump.
My 9 year old likes a ride in the morning to the bus stop, about an 1/8 of a mile straight shot down the street. So just a safe perch for her.

Sawzall time -next round!

I posted a "want to buy" here at ninjette and a member hooked me up. Very nice piece.

Hope to get to narrow swinger pivot this weekend and line up rear. A sneak peek:

Hm well I may have to try that. I could also make a 2-1 but it wouldn't be as nice as the muzzy. I have my rear almost completely collected. Newgen swingarm swap, and gsxr600 shock mounted. What are you doing for a swing arm.

Sounds like a good setup, running a zx600r swinger - 1992 I have to narrow the pivot mount by like 1/2 inch. May be able to get away with reusing the stock zx600 needle bearings by pounding in deeper- the factory machined about 3/8th deeper than necessary on each side. The pivot bolt on the zx is 17mm vs ninjette's 15mm, thinking about boring out or using some bushing adapters.

this aluminum zx600r swinger pic is borrowed from @verboten1

I was also looking into running ex500 later model wheels since they are so cheap. Was afraid of spacing though. I think I am just going to put out the cash for the lighter new wheels. Last thing I need is the wheels. Never tried centering a wheel that wasn't original on the swingarm so not sure how it is done. Was the front end and rear cheaper than doing the newgen swap?

I paid $150 for front&rear incl. ignition locks wheels etc.
I mainly chose this as seemed like pretty straight forward swap to get dual front brakes. I like the wheel color scheme too.

My two bro inlaws came by and i decided to recruit them to chop away. We narrowed the swinger pivot and mocked the swinger. Fitted the gsxr shock. The ninjette rear sprocket fit the 600 wheel perfetly. Just have to space out the dogbones with washers as the 600 swinger mount points are a bit further apart. Otherwise perfect fit.

Now I need to find a good place to find needle bearings hardened axle and or bushings to finalize the rear install.

So, ninja 600 swingarm like my old one, and you just have to cut come material off the ends? Did you use the 600 linkage. Or the 250?I'm trying to throw a different swingarm on my bike for a wider wheel. May have to get another one!

Also when you narrow the 600 swinger there may be enough room to press in the 600 stock bearing but no room for the seals. I will look for maye a narrower bearing that may have a built in race to fit the 250 hardware.
I used the ninjette linkage just need to get some washers for the bottom dogbones mount. I have non -stock dogbones I am sure the prior owner lowered the bike.

Going to see if i can use the ninjette brake caliper since it's newer and smaller. Rear wheel axles seem about same thickness between the 250/600.

Seems this Suzuki bearing might work with ninjette stock axle bolt and bushing 09263-22017

Plan to fit the swinger:

Use ninjette hardened 22mm bushing and stock bolt.

Ordered a bearing with built in seals HK2229UU Needle Bearing 22x28x29 TLA2229UU Needle Bearings from amazon

ordered a bushing from 28mmx33mmX45mm bushing from bronzebushings.com- will trim the length to fit within overall width.

Main issue I see is that the bronze bushing will be press fit- like the stock bearing is. BUT the new bearing is going freely slide into new bushing. My solution is to sort of mushroom the end inside so that the bearing will not slide towards inside of swinger. The frame will not allow the bearing to slide out. My guess is the shock and linkages will keep swinger centered from moving from side to side.

swinger goods came in

Pic:Top is the zx600r swing arm pivot bolt then the bearing bushing then the ninjette pivot bushing. The bottom items left to right are the bronze bushing i bought, then zx600 swinger bearing, then the bearing I bought, then the bearing and bushing installed on the ninjette stock swinger axle hardened bearing bushing. The one missing item is the ninjette swinger pivot bolt which is thinner than the zx600s. Fit is excellent!

Played with wires a bit. Should be pretty straightforward to hide all that crap under the seat. Also worked on the seat pan. Its made of 1 1/2x 1 1/2 aluminum angle from Lowes and a piece of old aluminum sign. This way did not need to mess with bending the sides, i will use screws to hold it together. The blue tape shows the end of the driver seat area and where the cushioned hump will be.

New tires getting installed and balanced this weekend. Not looking forward to that.

The stocker is 21.25 ish inches the zx600r is 22.25 ish as measured from the center of the pivot. So 1 inch longer. Going to finalize swinger install this coming weekend also.
