Signs that you ride a 250/300

I feel like a similar thread exists, I did a search to no avail, if any search ninja's can find it link it up for a merge

Any way, basically just mention small quirky things you notice about these small displacement bikes be it riding or wrenching, whatevs

I got thinking about this the other day when I was riding as I had one of these moments and had to chuckle a little to myself and figured I would post up.

You know you ride a ninja 250 when you get really excited that your bike is still pulling 6th gear up hill on the highway and think "Man! The bike is running good today!! " Then only to realize on the return trip 15 minutes later that you had a 20mph tail wind going up the hill

you know you ride a 250 if you twist the throttle until it stops every time you ride.

he said, basically you pin the throttle until you are going the speed you want and then back off.

If you do that on the TLR, you are on your back, looking at the sky, with a motorcycle on top of you.

You know you ride at 250 when someone asks you about the size of the engine and you smile and say "guess."

You know you ride a 250 when you go riding with your buddies and all of them consistently say, "Enjoy your ride, bro!"

...and that's the last you hear from them until you hit your destination.

AND that's completely okay with you! because two of them paid the go fast tax on the way.

When your asked, "how much power it has?"

My standard answer is, "enough to get into trouble, but not enough to get out of trouble"

You know you're riding a 250/300 when you can get over 200 miles per tank and still have enough gas to get home.

(note: I purposely chose light traffic, little to no traffic light, 45-55mph back roads for this tank to see how far I can push it. My goal is to hit 250 miles. I think I can do it!)

Depends on the amount of trouble

My old FJ1100 had enough for both, most of the time.

My average so far is about 50 mpg, my best is 59 mpg.

This is over 5k miles, and 27 fill ups,

generally speaking a modern 600cc I4 or faster is enough to get you "out of trouble" It's all about top end there or the ability to go off road

this reminds me

you know you're on a 300 when you complete a two hour endurance race on one tank of fuel and could still go for another half hour (these bikes dominate open track days, they're easy on the body and fuel so you can stay out on the track for hours on end)

You know you ride a Ninjette when you pull into a Walmart and are not surprised when that one guy comes up and asks, "How much for your 650?"

Over 300 miles on this tank!!! Over 75mpg. Record for me. It was hard to keep throttle smooth.

300.6 miles. Required 3.98 gallons of fuel.
