Ugly bikes

I see a lot of pictures of pretty bikes all shiny and never dropped. Nothing wrong with it. I'd just like to see some bikes with a little more character. So, if you're like me and you don't care about how your bike looks, post a pic. Or maybe you intentionally uglied your bike. Whatever the case, I wanna see some rust, cracked fairings, dents, road rash, etc.

This is mine. Been down on both sides, has dents, scrapes, and a little rust. And I honestly wouldn't change any of it. Well, maybe I'll change out that headlight :-)

I dont have any really good pics but I could pull a frame frome the video I have of the truck with your bike on it.

As far as this thread goes, it reminds me of the one I created a while back. "It's a POS but it's mine" lol

I never noticed the grab bar on the back of pregen. What's the purpose of this? Carrying handle?

Its a spoiler for cutting down on wind resistance, like you see on really fast cars like Toyota Corollas

Holding it while you put it on a stand. Supporting it while you hang the rear end from the ceiling to service the unitrak linkage. Sturdy point to push up your driveway when you're getting it out of the garage in the morning. Grab bar is super useful. It'sounted straight to the frame.

Behold, my gorgeous Ninja!

I crashed it and someone covered it with duct tape (do you see the black glue?) and then I covered it with stickers... the exhaust is scratched...

Left side is perfectly fine though. I was thinking of renaming her "beauty and the beast".

I would never go back to having a perfect looking bike though. She is unique now! And has evidence of adventure.

I bought this just about a year ago. The bike had been stored outside uncovered for 2 years after she was crashed. The motor had about 2 gallons of water inside and she had a bent rod! With scratched fairings, dented tank and broken controls I spent hours rebuilding her and making her run. I rode her for a full track day last month and she will be doing two days at Palmer August 10th and 11th. My original plan was to buy new plastic but I like her rough.

My first dustbin front was pretty ugly , particular after I was forced to chop a larger opening in the front for better cooling. Still it worked pretty well ( second overall at the 2012 Vetter Mid-Ohio Challenge). This picture was from the return trip back to CA at a rest stop in CO.

While I can appreciate the beauty of great paint and a clean and shiny finish, I also like the look of well-used vehicles that actually are ridden. Just like on people some scars are emblems of character.

Here's a couple shots of our '90 "Ninja Beater" -

It started life as a $150 project from a member here that crashed it at 85 mph. It actually didn't get as messed-up as he did. It had been sitting around for a while, and he had moved on to another bike. It started up and ran pretty well, considering. We put new rubber on it (Pirelli Scooters - $200 installed on the rims) and did some maintenance and tuning. It has pod filters and a leaky stock exhaust, so it's fairly loud. It runs and rides pretty well, and my son often rides it off-road in addition to doing other shenanigans that he'd never do on his pristine 2004.

Gotta have an ugly helmet to go with the ugly bike I guess.

Hey, that headlight was designed with nothing but lighting performance in mind.

Take that statement how you will, but I can respect when BMW does that. The asymmetrical venting in the S1000RR is the same thing. Purpose, not pretty.

The lights didn't work very well.

I had to add some HIDs to see where I was going.

The screen worked a treat though. I had a spare headlight protector for my Yamaha MT-01 so I painted the underside black and bolted it on. Much better than the BMW OEM one in form and function
