Animal Control = Hilarious...

Hi everyone. I've been a member since I got my bike in April, and haven't posted yet, but I couldn't pass this up...

Came home today from a day out with friends to find this note on my bike. THEN was told by my roommate that Animal Control was here earlier holding pieces of salami under my bike cover trying to coax "it" out... My "meowing" gas cap!!!

I couldn't stop laughing and HAD to share this with you all. Ride Safe

woah... now that's just really blond! hilarious, however at the same time a little disturbing x) like come on...

although i'm sure the people at animal control have seen all sorts of things in their line of work, and a kitten stuck in some bike is just another common everyday thing. funny they couldn't tell the difference between a whistling noise and a kitten, rofl ^.^

that just make my cloudy gloomy day start with a smile

Ha ha, that's great! they must be real animal lovers to know the difference between a meow and a whistle.

My housemate sits out the front near my bike every the morn for his coffee, when it gets hot the bike starts to talk to him.

Going to have to show him this thread. ha ha

I am wondering why they bothered to make themselves look like fools, logically there wouldn't be anywhere you could put a cat or kitten in this bike and not see it. It makes you wonder if you could see if you could hide a cat in it someone and call someone over.....

OMG that was good, that would have made a great youtube video of them walking around your bike with a salami, going, "kitty kitty kitty", esp if your bike "meowed" at them.

Welcome to the group.

I had to take notice to the whistle today. I don't get how anyone can say it sounds like a cat. I wouldn't mind knowing did the Animal Control take it on face value from whoever rang them that they heard a cat coming from the bike or did they hear it too and also decide that they too could hear a cat somewhere stuck in the bike.

It would be cool if you could find the person who left you the note and say to them.

That's hilarious! I can't help but laugh every time I read that note. I think the title for the gas cap drilling thread should be changed to the DIY - Kitten removal mod...

Hey man, just because the gas cap whistles doesn't mean there ISN'T a cat in your bike!

Kind of like, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get me.

Nonetheless, absolutely hilarious!

That's great!

Near where I park my bike at work there were a pair of nesting geese and someone told me they used to peck at the wheels of my bike.. not anyone else, just mine.. wonder if that was after it had made the whistling noise... hmmm.. maybe they thought it was a cat....

My Ninja doesn't meow, or whistle. It GROWLS on command of a flick of the right hand. I guess it has a tiger in the tank.

They don't all sound like a whistle. Some don't make any sound and some, like mine, let out a long "moan." Sounds like a long sustained "Mew" sound instead of a "Meow" sound.

Mine sound exactly like a stuck cat. I have heard the exact sound from one of my cats before when it got stuck on a roof, stuck around my porch, and one time came home with a broken leg. First time I heard it on my bike this past spring. I had my bike parked next to the workshop and the kids and I went looking for a stuck cat all around the workshop. Took a good 10 mins. to figure out it was coming from my gas cap.

LMAO, this is a great thread! This is my first bike, and it too Mews. I've seen the youtube videos of the whistle, or the beeping, but mine mews. Only I heard it at a stop sign before getting home, otherwise I would have thought it was my cat as well!

I searched all over the place looking for where the sound was coming from before I decided that it might be something from expanding/shrinking fuel or water and just googled it. I searched and turned things on and off for a good 5 minutes! Looking back on it, it's hilarious!

Now if only I can teach my cat to ditch his nagging meow, for my bikes warms cozy mew.
