What does that whiny beep sound mean?

My bike is making that sound every 20 minutes or so (according to my boyfriend)... I do catch it from time to time as well, but I'm not in/around the garage as much as he is. What does it mean? The bike is parked in neutral, kill switch off, ignition off. The fan is not going. The key is not in the ignition. I can't find any mention of this in the manual. Will this drain my battery?

It sounds like a long-ish beep tone that fades out, if that makes any sense. Like a digital dog whine. LOL

Sounds like the gas cap venting pressure.

Fix it here... http://www.kawiforums.com/ninja-250r...-pictures.html

Wow! I had no idea it could be the gas tank... It sounds so electronic! Well, now that I know what it is, I'm just going to leave it as-is. It's not annoying enough for me to risk screwing something up while doing the mod.

I just assume it's whining at me because I am not riding it.

Jessica that is the mating call of a Ninja - it means come pay attention to me. Only problem is the more you ride her the more she will whine until you fill her tank up again.

If you don't like the fun answer you can follow "mr. stick in the mud" "no nonsense" s link to the vent issue.

When I sold my 250 for a Yamaha FZ6 this Summer one of the nice "upgrades" was the lack of whine. My ninjette used to cry all the freakin' time. I would walk past the shed where is was stored and I could hear it through the door! Popping open the gas cap would quiet things for a while but pretty soon it would start crying again. It seems Kawasakis are know for this "feature".

Well I can see there are some Ninja owners that just don't understand that the little 250 has a soul. I could understand this if we were talking about some 300 pound harry wife beater t-shirt wearing Kaiser cap wearing (did I miss any stereotype?) Harley riders but come on, where is your sensitive side?

Show me something else that reminds you it misses you, is happy when you take it out, and really shows appreciation when you have it in the sun and are rubbing it all over with a nice slippery cream that makes it shine? - Oh wait wrong story line.

Just curious, do you all park yours with the fuel valve closed? I've never experienced this, but I also park mine outside under a cover....
