No it's an actual 300 motor. Owner topped it out I guess and snapped a rod or something. Going to tear the motor down and go over it and see what I can salvage.

Yesterday, Old Guy on a '08 and I put in over 200 + miles on some nice back roads, twistys, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Great ride, although still a little cool in the mountains.

Rode it in the rain, yeah CA and rain this late in April

Today's a nice chill day at work so I'm taking the opportunity to trick out a few ninjette members OEM rotors. 1lb lighter and so much more superbike looking.

My ninjette had its first MOT today. It's a compulsary vehicle inspection test they have over here. She passed her test! Though apparently my front tyre is down to the tred marker and I didn't notice Also, the mechanic told me I should look after my rear brake rotor a bit better by cleaning the gunk out of those little holes.

Went out riding for about 35-40 minutes. I was thinking of going out of town for a weekend trip, but I'm finding the weather is still quite cool. (Today it is about 9c/50f) I'm okay to commute or to run across town, but once I get out on the open road I find the wind really chills me down, despite bundling up in warm gear.

Funny, when I was in my 20s or 30s I thought nothing of going out and riding 200 or 300 miles in cool temps, but I really can't hack it much now. Hopefully some warmer weather is on the way.

Rid journal is toast. No way I can resalvage it. I'm starting to thing that this motor is a lemon possibly. Only way I will know more is when I split the case and find the rod nuts and bolts. The story I keep on hearing is that he ran the motor with no oil but there are no signs of oil starvation.

Red face Resurrecting a neglected Ninja

I put on a new Pirelli MT75 front tire and installed a new clutch cable. Still need to pull and clean the carbs and see if they have been rejetted or at least had the needles shimmed for the Muzzy pipe and K&N air filter. Still need to try to get more of the rust out of the tank and put on a new gas cap, this one is too far gone to mess with.

More break-in riding - odometer is at 420 miles - and installed a tank pad.

My Yoshimura full system exhaust arrived! Next up is to do the installation.

I felt like I had lowered the bike too far, so today I raised it up some. I use the Roaring Toyz links and spacers, so you can change the height at will. Then I adjusted the chain and topped off the tank. If I am only a gallon or 2 short of a full tank, I prefer to fill it at home. I enjoy being able to take off on a long ride without having to stop for gas first thing.

Popped the valves out of the head, gave them a nice lapping and seats/valves look gorgeous! Got started de-carboning the ports with oven cleaner and purple stuff. Need to do a little more cleaning then just wait for a valve spring compressor and a 1/4" drive torque wrench to come in the mail (both by Friday with luck ) then time to bolt this sucka back together!

Finally got my tank side bags strapped down so where the wind doesn't rip them off and adjusted my Koso's tire circumference from 714 to 700 since my speedometer was reading 1.5 mph over what my GPS showed. Now only 0.2-0.3mph off. Yay!

My son and I pulled the airbox and carbs out of his Ninjette.
I am still trying to decide if I want to do the battery box
mod or go for the airbox delete and put on a K&N (or better yet a Unifilter). I was happy to see that the PO had rejetted it for the Muzzy system and the K&N that he had put on. The needles are adjustable, the clip is in the middle groove and it has 114 mains in the carbs. Hope its not too fat, I will find out this weekend.
