55yrs of road racing
Last night I went to the Motoseries banquette. I had the humbling honor of dining with a racer that has been racing for 55yrs. And for those of you that know me, you know I took strategic advantage of such experience. He shared much with me that I still need to wrap my head around but also told many funny stories.
For example; When VIR wasn't really VIR, it was surrounded by corn fields. And on the backstretch, when you popped up from your tuck you could see the top of the corner stalks. Sometimes... you would see the tops of the stalks wiggle from side to side or wobble wildly. It was a sign that a rider was going through the cornfield after blowing the turn. bwahahhahahahahahahha I am not gunna dis what is taught in the books and classrooms around the country today but I need some time to process what I heard.
