Hey guys I'm new, and I was wondering if this stand will work fine for my lil ninja

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Check this thread out:

It may end up costing you around $20 - $30 more, but it truly is a solid product with amazing customer service and a supported lifetime warranty. Of course it depends on what you plan to do with it. One of my concerns was getting a pair of stands that would be able to support SLIME-R's weight during long periods of time that I know I won't be riding her as much (i.e. winter months). I corresponded with Mr. Myron of GPI (he's the owner) about this issue and he personally guaranteed me that I would have no issues with using his stands for that, as he guarantees they will hold up securely up to a 1,000 lbs. over a long period of time and if anything was to happen to my motorcycle because of his product not performing to it's fullest then he would cover the cost of damages and replace the stands. What more could you ask for in a guarantee than that. I highly recommend you check them out.

Yeah, I was contemplating on getting the GP stands but it's gonna cost me another $50, i know I'm kinda thrifty about this kind of stuff. but I don't really have the money to spend. but I'm still thinking about it though. thanks for the input (:

I have a very similar front stand. Piece of crap. Bike is easily knocked off the stand while doing any kind of work. Barely enough room to remove front axle whike on stand. Ended up buying another PitBull, which I should have done from the start.

I don't know about the stand you listed, but after looking at them pretty closely, I went with a PSR Econo Rear stand for $50. Been using it for about 7 months now, and it has worked like a champ. Very sturdy and (so far) rust free despite living in a carport. I've got no qualms working under it or leaving the bike up on it for longer periods of time. PSR Econo Rear Spool Stand at Motorcycle Superstore. Cheaper than the one you listed, and looks sturdier, too.

Thanks for the input guys, btw the stand(s) that i listed is a BikeTek stand(s) "front and rear stands" for 84.98 free shipping, but i guess i might just end up getting the GPI stands since they have so many good reviews and i heard you can even use it for bike storage on the winter months w/o any problems. so yeah thanks guys!

Again, I think going with the GPI stands/lifts is a terrific choice. They constantly have several on auction at ebay. It took me a couple weeks, but I was finally able to get a pair for $80 plus the $30 FedEx shipping fee. So, if you end up being fortunate to get a pair at the same price then you would be only paying $25 more for a better quality stand along with a lifetime warranty guarantee. Also, I believe that these stands/lifts are made here in the U.S.A. as well.

Good luck!

Thats identical to the front stand I got. I would avoid it for anything other than the occasional use.

get a front stand that lifts from the hole in the triple clamp. I'm kicking myself for wasting money on a fork lift stand for the front, the one I've got isn't very good and I don't trust it. Since I got the head lift stand it's much easier to work on the front end, wash it, etc. it'll cost you a little more, but it's much more stable than the fork lift type, imo.

edit:

those are the same as what I've got, but I've also got the head lift stand from them as well. bike sat on the rear all winter, it's just fine. the front is sketchy tho.

edit again: looks like they don't have a head lift stand, so i have no idea who makes the one I've got, but it was cheap and works well

Depending on how close you are to a major metro area, I see Pitbull stands on cl frequently. I've picked up near stands for not much. Parts to fit different bikes are readily available and easily adjusted between bikes.

And you can always peddle them for the same or more if you decide you don't want them anymore.

The OP is right though, for longer storage, the pin lift headstock front end lift would be more secure than the fork variety.

+1000000000000000 I just changed my tires this weekend and the front fork stand blows. I'm now on the hunt for a triple tree/ head lift stand. The one from GPI looks ok, but I prefer a bar welded across to keep the two arms from stretching. T-rex stand attaches to the side instead of using a slip fit system. IMO, that's just asking for trouble later on.

I just picked up this stand:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STFL-...Q5fAccessories

Looks identical to the DMP S-Spec stand and comes with the same pins. I'm sure it's just a rebranded DMP stand.

looks identical to the one I got. works well, but the top bar comes into contact with the bottom of the front fairing. nothing a little foam tape won't fix.

I have all three - rear, front fork and triple tree stand (Vortex). Each of the front come in handy for different reasons. If I could choose only one - it would be the triple tree pin front stand, but the fork stand does look cool in photos.

It says that the Store seller is away and that you can go to their website page. However, on their website page they are listing the stands for a lot more than if you were to bid on a pair on ebay. I will send them an email to see if I get any type of response.

I chose a Heindl Pivot Stand a few years ago when New Enough still carried that brand. I've used this stand with a number of different sport bike brands and models.

The only bike that I had to "invent" an adapter for is the Ninjette because it has a "normal" type of bolt for the swingarm pivot instead of a hollow one that the pins of the stand fit into. I figured out that a 1-inch, deep, ½-inch drive socket would fit perfectly in the pivot bolt holes built into the frame.

It works great and is easy to use: Yoshi floating album

The fact that it takes the weight off of the suspension when it lifts the bike can be very helpful, depending on what the project of the day is.

However, for paddock use, this stand is not as quick and easy as a swingarm lift.

UPDATE:

Mr. Myron replied to my email and informed me that his family and him are on vacation for the next few weeks. So, if you want I can ask him to send you an email that way you might be able to work out some type of deal. However, since he has pulled everything off of ebay for now while he is on vacation, I am not too sure how well that will go, but it is worth a shot. This is just a small setback when dealing with a small American ran company that supplies a quality American product. Call it bad timing or whatever, but he assured me he will be back and running things once his family and him return from their vacation.

Just PM me your email if you would like me to forward it to him, or you can just try sending him a message through ebay yourself.

Good luck!

Thank you.

I don't remember long term storage ever being mentioned for these stands. E-mail or call Heindl, I had a question one time and they were very helpful. (I actually spoke with the engineer, not the secretary!)
((I don't know, I've never done winter storage. ))

I got to use my new stand yesterday and am happy to report that it didn't contact the front fairing. It came close, like maybe 1-2mm, but definitely didn't touch. The included pin worked great and everything was solid. No problems with the cheaper ebay stand. I may end up using it more than my fork stand.

good to hear. mine contacts just enough that I couldn't slip a piece of paper thru, I usually just throw a microfiber towel over it until I get some foam tape
