what little I could see was the north eastern sky glowing in a funny way with a bright very long streek of red going straight up....
....
much different from the green glow we observed decades ago from port townsen wa. this one was definately red with traces of violet quite beautiful really.
....
and I am located 50 miles from the oregon border in Northern California.
....
people further east of me were supposed to have a real good viewing !
....that was one hell of a sun-spot that put that one out !
it looked very similar to the Carenton event of our past .... I am surprised more damage wasn't done to our power grid.... those boys have done something right obviously !

I saw a post showing how the different colors are due to the reactions being in different parts of the atmosphere. Really cool stuff. I use to watch them when I was a kid. My dad would always take me out to look at astronomy stuff.
